Is anyone familiar with the Sig X-5? The specific model I'm interested in is the: 226X5-9-L1 (9mm).

It is supposedly capable of sub-2-inch groups at 50 yards. Does anyone have any experience with it...or first-hand knowledge of it?

I do have a 226 (Blackwater Edition) and love it. Its fixed sights are accurate (for my eyes) to 25 yards and has never malfunctioned no matter the ammo. The mags from this 226 would also work in the X-5.

I ask because the X-5 above is a big-ticket item and I do not want to invest in it if it doesn't meet its "factory billing". The trigger is supposedly adjustable from 2.2-3.53 lbs.

Any first-hand knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance....[grin]

I own an X-Five Competition in 9mm. (basically, it's an X-Five without an adjustable trigger).

I don't know what it will do on paper at 50 yards, but I know I have no trouble hitting a steel plate the size of a pie plate at 50 yards... One of these days I'm going to have a buddy of mine weld up something about 65% the size, I bet I can still hit it. I'll also have to try paper at that distance, as well. (ringing steel is too much fun so by the time I think about
hitting paper with it at that distance I'm out of ammo. [laugh]

Whenever I have shot paper with it, it's shown itself to be one of the most accurate handguns I own. I can't make tighter groups with any other
handgun. I also use it constantly for steel plate rack matches.

IMO the "adjustable trigger" business is overkill- if you get the competition you will be happy. The reset is short and the break is about 3-3.5 pounds and its clean all the way around. The only reason I'd blow the extra change on the regular version of the gun is money was no object at all.

Thank you drgrant. That's all I needed to know. My intention is to use it for steel as a stock pistol, but was wondering about the accuracy claim. I know fully-tuned .45's are capable of that...just didn't know about the Sig. Most likely the only time this will see paper is for initial sighting and testing. Thanks again. [grin]
