BLUF: Lobbying documents indicate Silencer Central paid a lobbyist to block the HPA from removing silencers from the NFA, and only bring the tax to $0.

Silencer Central CEO put out a statement: “ We have always been vocal supporters of the HPA, as well as the current proposed provision of a $0 tax stamp… Our priority has always been… advocating for deregulation and 2nd amendment rights.“

I don’t know, the statement does seem to indicate their focus is the $0 tax instead of removing it from the NFA (which would prevent them from shipping silencers to people’s homes).

Always follow the money
Words mean nothing.
I'll maybe change my mind when the donate that and then some to places like fpc,goa and the like consistently with zero donations like above

They didn’t actually deny the claims made against them. Slightly different statement than the one from their CEO.

Not lobbying against it… in its current watered down form anyway.

That's exactly what I gathered from it. "Not lobbying against" leaves a lot of room.

People forget about this stuff rather quickly. Springfield Armory sales haven't slumped in the slightest after they tried to cuck gun owners in IL.

Or, they may think getting the tax to zero is a more winnable position and therefore advocate for that for their company's business needs. If suppressors get removed from the NFA, even bigger win.

I'd be happy with either or both. Either would be a significant win. Especially if the people against us realize the tax hasn't been increased since forever and probably should be closer to $1k in today's dollars to have the same impact.

GOP has 2 houses and claim to be the pro 2a party...............
I also can't see how this would benefit any can makers or dealers like Silencer Central in place of getting atf out of the picture 🤷‍♂️

Per the inflation calculator, $200 in 1934 would be $4788 today

Reagan banned full autos. The most bestest conservative President eva.
People love to pretend the GOP is pro 2A.

Look how many silly gooses here on NES who either have no problem with or refuse to acknowledge the insane draconian bullshit Trump directed the ATF to do about bump stocks.

Luckily that hunk of shit lost in court eventually.

If they pass all the laws we want why would we need to vote for them in the future?

To be fair, how many of you would be willing to basically fight to shut your own company down???? I'm betting it's fewer than 3 guys on all of NES. Including lurkers.

Integrity is rare. VERY rare. Everyone is compromised to some extent. SC is no different.

George Washington had slaves.

Clinton got impeached based on banging some fat chick in the Oral Office.

Things change. Times change. I'm betting if Reagan was 65 today, he'd be a staunch 2A supporter. In 198x??? It was a sign of the times. It was 15 years of anti-gun push from every direction. You can't judge Reagan on that any more than judging G-dub and TJ on owning slaves.

Shut down their own company is a stretch, IMO. They sell hardware, no? Isn't that the business they're in? If they need to depend on the government making the process difficult for them to stay in business selling their services, they can go out of business. I'm OK with that.

I get your point, but I don't think that lets everyone off the hook. Customers are going to be pissed when you actively lobby against them. They'd be stupid not to be.

No question. But my point is that people are SHOCKED that they are doing whatever they can to protect their business. When each and every one of us does the same every day.

Watch when the S hits the fan on US debt and Congresscritters actually have to cut the US budget. Everyone will chimp-scream about their "favorite program" and how "it shouldn't be cut."

Hell, the hullabaloo 2-3 years ago on this board when the mASS F&G raised the price of fishing/hunting lic's. They hadn't raised teh price in a decade or more. "OH THE HUGE MANATEE!" Everyone forgets that the $ goes directly to conservation. (It CANNOT be put in the general fund, by law. Huge Robertson's DingleJohnson) F Conservation! I wanna save $20!!!

I've got no dog in the fight about SC. But their actions are not surprising.

If the NFA removed silencers, SC would go out of business. There is no neeed to have them as a middle-man. Their business IS filling out government paperwork. Otherwise, local dealers will just order silencers like they do Glocks from their distributor and be done with it.

They are not a silencer company. They are a government-paperwork-efficiency company.

it is when it hits the fan - it needs to be cut now, but no one cares.
when it will hit the fan will be a collapse of the currency and a global default. that will be indeed, very, very fun.
but by that time all the proper critters will put proper walls around their seashore properties with properly armed private armies that will protect them, and will issue the 'go eat cakes instead' advices for the electorate.
