Anyone have info on wether or not smith recommends carrying this gun with +1? I called smith and spoke with "Tom", and he couldn't give a straight answer. The reason I ask is because with +1, the mag is tougher than usual to lock in. Nothing in the manual

dont know about the shield but i carry +1 in my sigma and BG380 with zero issues. I would ASSUME that pretty much every modern firearm is designed so that +1 doesnt make a differnce (after all, a closed chamber is a closed chamber independent on there being a round in it)

dont have one so take it for what its worth...

sorry, slow typer

I carry my 9mm shield +1 always. I load it +1 on range trips as well and haven't had an issue. Yeah, the mag is tough to seat but give it a couple firm bumps and you're good to go.

Leave the mags loaded for a few weeks and the gun should become easier to load. Mine is always X+1.

Static loaded springs don't wear that way. There's been several threads here about it. To get the springs to be easier/wear them out a bit, load and unload the magazines a bunch of times. The stressing distressing of the springs will weaken them a little bit each time. In terms of inserting a full magazine with the slide closed, it's a known m&p situation. Just whack the magazine a bit.

Thanks for the info guys. I found it weird that smith had no say on this matter one way or the other, and the gun is new to me, so I had to ask. Appreciate the feedback.

I wouldn't expect them to take a stance of loading +1 since there's probably some sort of liability.

Yes, you are right that springs don't lose tension as quickly in a static loaded position compared to cycling. However, I've been doing this with new magazines for a while and it works great for me. So in my experience it does work. Including on my Shield.
