Slept on AR-15 accessories & parts?

Plenty of drop in trigger sets that are so much better than what comes in milspec LPK's it's not even funny. Lots of them are budget friendly these days too. IMO, gone are the days where you need to drop $200+ to get a good drop in trigger pack.
RAVE 140 on sale for $99. Awesome triggers.

Exactly. The ones that I think are great for home defense and zombie apocalypse style rifles are around 80 bucks. And they’re damn good. Don’t need to spend any more than that unless you are a competitor in my opinion.

People who don't have quad NODs or any NV gear, why do some folks have IR lasers on their rifle? And mount red dots 2 inches high?

If you have to ask you can't afford it.

My guns are defensive use only. Figure a jury will frown if I put on nods and lit up bad guys at my home after painting them with IR. In the coming Race War of 2025 I'm sure I'll get issued a COD style rifle.

I have lights on any setup that could be used for home defense (AR pistol uppers as well as my 9mm Stribog). No IR illuminators since I don't got any NODs/NV gear... Main home defense item is just a red dot for sights (pop-up sight are too farking low for me to use).

I did it as a trial. My neck feels way better using 2.26(I think) height risers.
For me as well, faster on target. Probably measured in nano seconds. But it's right there when I raise to fire vs at regular height raise the rifle, scrunch down, get cheek weld and then find the dot.

I used to have a really high optic on an old bushmaster AR with the fixed carry handle like the Israelis still do with their old stock rifles. More like a chin weld vs a cheek weld lol. My concern was how much more variance that would affect shot parallax at different ranges vs an absolute cowit

You may find yourself in a situation of lawlessness. And night time happens a lot.

It’s a lot easier to repeat a natural position of the body vs one that is uncomfortable or awkward, especially under stress. I don’t like the higher mounts. Just depends on the individual which works best.

Chin welds are for soviets.

At that point why not just put back the carry handle and mount the optic on it.

The proper way to do it is to take that 12" mount and mount it on top of the Monstrum rail that sits on top of the carry handle. But first you need a Monstrum carry handle mounted on a monstrum carry handle.

If I can find a cheap tall mount, I am 100% doing this.

respectfully - @PatMcD, @Mountain, @mac1911, would one of you remind us how to mount a rifle?

Im still running irons , a a solid cheek weld my eye still falls a tad low of the rear aperture on AR and M1 / M14
I think scope on carry handle is silly
Unless you have only One AR with fixed CH and absolutely need a scope ?

Sorry, I didn't mean mounting optics. I meant mounting yourself to the gun.

This whole "scrunching" to the stock thing makes me sad...someone in a shooter's past failed them when I see/hear it.

I hesitate to answer because I was accused (guilty) of always bringing Highpower Rifle (The Fundamentals) into every rifle conversation.

I can't help myself.......Bring the sight to your eye, not your eye to the sight.

Fundamentals never go out of style!
(That's kinda why I tagged you three)

It was more of a developed cheek weld on my stock. But I still had to go down and maybe a little forward (magnifier) I honestly forget.

Running the 2.26 riser and unity(knockoff) flip to center enabled my to do that with little to no adjustment

I'd be surprised if my pencil neck is shorter than yours. The trick is being shown how to put the sights level with your eyes and bring the stock to your shoulder. Don't scrunch down...maybe shrug your shoulder. Mostly, lay forward.

Recall "nose to charging handle."

If you haven't done an Appleseed yet, I can't recommend it enough.
