I just bought a 870 swivel kit for my buddies Rem 870. The front part is a screw on replacement cap, but the rear part is a screw that is drilled into the rear stock. The kit talks about a wooden rear stock, but my friends 870 is synthetic. Can I just drill the synthetic as I would the wooden stock or is there another procedure I should use?

That's a good question, I'm wondering the same thing about putting studs into my Ruger 10/22 synthetic stock. Seems like it ought to work as long as the stock is thick enough so that the screw threads don't poke into something hollow inside.

Here's a thread from the Appleseed Project forum that should help you:

There's a ton of info on 10/22s there.
