I am so sorry if I am repeating stuff but having scoured the posts I can't find my specific question so I will pose it. I am first time buyer who has decided on the M&P 9c or the Shield. I wear button down oxfords all of the time and need a gun for a tuckable IWB. Each LGS says something different. So, what have people's experiences with each?

thanks so much

I wear a Shield in an IWB holster every day. The slim profile makes it easy to carry and wear all day.
Tuckable, not so easy. I always wear shirts untucked.

First off, welcome to the forum! You made a great choice by joining this forum. I would STRONGLY recommend you go GREEN and join the community; you'll find you make your money back fairly quickly. Also, great choice on the S&W M&P series; lots of guys on here carry them, and we're all quite pleased.

I have a Shield which I use with a Remora friction-fit holster. It is not a tuckable holster. However, Remora does make them, and I am quite close to getting one; I truly love the comfort of my Remora. If you do get a Remora, be advised: get a highly adjustable belt so you can ensure the friction fit is tight enough that you can draw without pulling out the holster, but not so tight that you're cutting off blood supply.

I haven't used one, but I intend on purchasing one in the near future, but I've heard lots and lots of great things about Crossbreed's Super Tuck line of holsters; there are AMPLE testimonials and pics of it online. Google is your friend!

I hope this helps!

If you're carrying IWB, go with the Shield. The narrow profile does make a difference in concealability, especially if you're of small stature.

Here's a good comparison:

Carry an M&P .40c in a CompTac Mtac with velcro hooks on a velcro lined A&G custom belt Monday-Friday at work. Have to wear a shirt & tie and compact disapperas when I tuck my shirt in. Held a Shield and it's certainly has a smaller profile. I like the fact that the compact has a 10 + 1 capacity.

I have both and now never carry the 9c. The shield seems tiny next to the 9c ( and i know it's not ); it just carries better for me IMO
I use a remora IWB without issues. Any time I had a button down I would throw a sweater vest on.
I like the remora as it's clip-less so you can wear it anywhere left, right, back, front.
