Smith and Wesson M&P Sights question: Are there different sights for the Shield?

So I don't have a ton of experience with the S&W M&P's, but recently acquired a .40 caliber. I'm not a huge fan of the sight picture, though it's workable and it is accurate for me.

However, I recently held the Shield and the sight picture on that seemed different, better. It almost seems like the front sight may be a thinner than the space between the rear sight. It just seemed to line up quicker for me.

Are there different sights on the Shield? Actually, any sight advice for the M&P would be welcomed. I don't really look forward to having to change them out (as I don't really know how to do that so they're accurate), but would consider it if I'm more comfortable with a different set. I guess I could have a gunsmith do it, I just don't want to turn my gun into a 2 lb paperweight.

I have these fiber optic sights from Dawson Precision on 2 of my handguns. They come in different widths, sounds like you will want to go narrower than original.

I installed mine myself. It's really not that hard as long as you have a vice, I used wood to pad the vice jaws.

So when you adjusted it for accuracy, how did you do it?

Secondary sight question: How much do you lose in accuracy when you get the thinner fast-action fore sight?

I used a vernier caliper to find that my original front sight was .015 to the right of the center of the slide. I installed the new sight to be the same offset. Went to the range to verify.

+1 on the Dawson sights. The thinner blade was better for me, accuracy is excellent. The adjustable rear sight makes all the differance.

This. If you are using the gun strictly for personal defense the rear sight IMO is useless. The XS Big Dot works for me....

I like the XS Big Dot on my MP 45.
