OK I have one that I aquired in a all or nothing estate buy. I have shot it. Its nice. Best trigger on a 22 semi I have pulled. This a great little gun. 7 3/8" barrel 2 mags and box

Question: Why is it the older models with the cocking indicator are more money? which mine has
I do not shoot a lot of 22 pistol. I have a few others already. NONE are as nice as this.
So Im tossed, do I sell it to fund more of what I currently am shooting

Toss it in the safe and hold on to it

Heck if I can get close to what they are going for on gun broker I will be tempted to sell it

The 41 is one of the nicest .22 target guns you can get. I'd keep it. If I didn't shoot it, I'd fondle it often.

Carl has five of them for sale if you want to see the price points:

www.fsguns/used:

Smith & Wesson 41 .22LR Expand $699.95 2 available at this price
Smith & Wesson 41 .22LR 72xxx $799.95 X-TRA MAG
Smith & Wesson 41 .22LR Expand $849.95 2 available at this price

I have one and would never sell it. The one you have is more than likely made in the 50's or early 60's. You do see a lot of used ones for sale but the one you have is hard to find and one of the finest ever made. I myself would hold on to it. It's one of those guns you would have a real hard time replacing.

Sell the rest of your 22's and keep the 41.

I did fondle it, thats the problem. I also have the same problem with a 39-2.....I touch them I want them. I do have to sell off a few items. I went over the budget a bit. Need to recoup some where. I will have to start by selling the deringer 22lr

If you don't know when it was made, PM me with the serial number and I'll look it up for you.

The Model 41 is the finest standard production .22lr available. I would sooner keep it than any other 22s.

Ruger makes a great gun, and I own some. But, they do not touch a M41, which I own several of. Cant really compare the two at all, in my humble opinion...

Thanks

I have a Model 41 I bought used for $290.......................in 1984.
These have been around since 1957.
The S/N is of mine #A59XXXX, it was made in 1979.
The trigger is phenominal. They only one I ever felt that was better, was one (prefix A46) made in 1978.
The older they are, the nicer they are.
I had mine refinished, along with two magazines, in electroless nickel back in 1986 by the old Baystate Arms. It looks like matte stainless and has held up superbly. I can't tell you how many bricks of ammo have gone through it in the last 25 years, but the only thing that ever needed replacemnet was an extractor. S&W sent me one N/C.
Also, take down for cleaning is as easy as it gets.
Try that with a Ruger!

I own lots of 22LR's, including a Pardini SP and of course a Ruger MkIII.
I would love to own a S&W 41 as well, really nice workmanship, just can't justify as my Parkini is my match pistol.

just so you all know, I have decided to keep it. I took it out for some more fondling, its nice.......the ruger might get the heaveho....well maybe not it looks cool.

I used to have a model 41 and it was a very nice pistol . I had five barrels for this gun and it was used for all types of shooting. I have since sold the entire package and now I shoot a Walther OSP and a USP I also have a Unique Olympic target gun and a Browning Medlist. These are all slightly higher end target guns when compaired to the 41, however the 41 for the money less then $1000.00 is the least expensive true target gun available.

Whats the difference between these?

I was looking at 'em over the weekend. The more expensive models have target grips and red dot sights on them. The $699 looked really nice, but a little too much $ for an impulse .22 purchase.
