Seems as S&W will be coming out with a possible replacement for the Sigma line.

Looks like they mated a Sigma with an M&P. The ONLY way I'd consider one is if it accepted pre-ban sigma magazines. If it can't, I'll stick to the M&P.

Oh well, forget that. S&W confirmed (on facebook) that it DOESN'T take sigma mags. I'll stick with the M&P.

I do like some of the features. The Tritium front sight is a nice touch (but why only the one sight?), grip looks solid and comfortable, and it seems like a general no-frills piece. Plus the "$530 MSRP" is certainly attractive (seeing as the M&P are listed at $719)... les than $100 more than a Sigma, but appears to be far better designed.

Guess it's a matter of waiting until they can be sampled.

Yeah... I don't even need one since I have M&Ps in both 9 and 40 (and a .357 barrel) but I would take a hard look anyway. I'd been thinking about getting a Sigma to secure in another room of my home.

We're probably not the target market. If you don't shoot hundreds of rounds a month,$100 is a bigger part of the gun budget. This gun does look like a nicer gun than the sima though, not that that's very hard.

I thought the Sigma was just going to silently die off as the M&P took over. I am surprised S&W is replacing it rather than just letting it die.

It's not a replacement... it's a mid-line model.

Why would they kill a very popular pistol line? The Sigma is $200 less than the M&P and is perfect for many people.

I noticed that last approved weapons roster listed the SD9 and SD40 on it. Does anybody have any clue as to when it will be available brandy new? I assume that because it is a S&W there will be minimal nonsense with the consumer protection rainbow*
