I am a noob to this site and thank you for letting me join...

I own a Smith and wesson sigma 40VE that I bought used at a pawnshop and at a good price I believe and always liked smith and wesson. well anyway I took it to the range last night and I did not clean it first since it did look clean but anyway shot it and everytime it would not release the cartrage at all and thats with every shot.. now I own a Highpoint JHP45 that not once did I ever have a problem with it and I have put every ammo through it and has over 3000+ to it. but anyway what would cause the Smith and wesson sigma 40VE to not eject the cartrage other than a good cleaning? I am confused on this one because when I broke it down it looked dirty big time but I have not gone back to the range to test it again but anyway looking for possibility as to why it would do something like that

Do you mean that it would not eject the spent casing? Was it still in the barrel or was it partially out (stove pipe)? Have you looked at the extractor to make sure the hook is in good shape?

The early model sigmas I have heard had some failure to feed or failure to eject problems. Some where along the line he changed some internals and got rid of the problem. If your sigma does not have the accessory rail on it, it is the earlier model and could have some problems.

it would not eject the spent caseing and was still in the barrel, I had to hold the slide open and pry the caseing out with my finger nail and I havent looked at the extractor at all but I will look at it to make sure the hook is in good shape

it does have the accessory rail for sure but the thing just thru me off and I tried several diffrent rounds and still the same issue dang I was pretty upset with it.. I can deal with the trigger being hard to pull like everyone has stated but I see it like this if you can deal with a Highpoint you can deal with about anything outthere.. [sad2]

I bought a new Sigma in 2004, after about 1500 rounds my extractor broke (causing the same issues). Call up S&W, they will most likely fix this for you free of charge.

It will half pull a spent casing out and then try to double feed right? After 5k rounds I had an issue with the extractor and spring. S&W replaced it for free. You should contact them and they will work it out. On a side note if you are interested in some triggerwork I can give you a couple of easy DIY pointers on what to do.

guys thank you so much for the reply's I will call s and w up and get it fixed since I do like the gun even if it gave me this problem, next gun I want to get me a sig since thats my most favorite weapon

tru I got this Smith and wesson cause I got a good deal with it and always known they made good guns and I figured it would be better than the HP i had but man oh man anyway I am going to get it fixed and sell it and get me a sig and I would not mind spending the 6 to 800.. for one At least I would know it is new and wont have any problems with it

Since I am the Sigma cheerleader on the board I will make the argument again. They are not bad guns, yes some have issues, but how many are out there? If I were to look at getting a full size 9mm pistol and not have to have neutered mags then the choice in MA is Bereta, Sig, Glock, or Sigma. It is not well known but they made 17rd mags for these. So for $350 for the gun and $70 for 2 prebans it is a very affordable package. For a person without means $410 to have a solid pistol on your belt and that warm feeling in your heart isn't that bad.

The original ones had alot of problems. The newer ones (post 04) seem to be solid pistols. As for the 20lbs trigger pull one thing drops it down to around 6lbs. Any of the grit can be removed after 20 min. with a polishing stone.

They kick the fecal matter out of HPs any day!

I agree I bought My sigma 40ve for 290.00 with tax and 2 14 round mags and I do like smith and wesson i was just shocked it happened and walked out so upset that I kept repetting dang I cannot believe My highpoint was better than a smith and wesson but like i said I am shocked thats all after I get it fixed I might end up keeping it and sell off the Highpoint 45 acp. believe me i could care less about how hard the trigger pull was on my sigma because I am very used to it and I have my high point trigger hard than that of a sigma so in short it is like a cake walk to me
