Snipers practice for the Superbowl

Fans at the stadium better ditch the usual D-fence and hold ‘hands-up, don’t shoot’ signs instead.

They chootin playas?

Don't be silly. They'll have these things to use for target practice during the game!

Okay, quasi serious post time...

Why? Why do they need to do this? I get the need to practice elevated shooting, but can we just go back to being quiet professionals without the 'hey look at me'

What supervisor in their right mind is going to authorize a shot into the stands with a .50?

This just is a bad look imo. Keep your shit quiet, go train at Blackwater or something. There is no rationalization for doing this and putting it out there.

This is less about the ability to shoot someone then it is to show everyone that the police can shoot anyone. It's conditioning.

I'm guessing since it's a planned training session the 50's were brought in to get worked. I'd be surprised if they use them during the game. They were probably there all day and Danger Dave said "Can I try some shots with my 50?"

Given LE accuracy and the fact these zeroes were probably f***ED... the turf must look greaaaaaaaat 👌👌👌

A 50 cal for shots inside 350 yards? I don't think so.
Agreed way overkill (pardon the pun). Any caliber the 3 range would do 300 win, 308 etc. guess they had to feel extra special driving out a firearm that has likely never been fired.

This. The only legit reason I can think of is if the stadium created some unique wind conditions, but that is a huge stretch. I totally agree, all they accomplished was to give potential nut jobs more info than they had before the video was aired. Shooting at a very steep angle takes practice, and maybe they did not have a facility that allowed them to easily replicate the conditions, but WTF are you thinking by airing the video? Foolish.

My first thought was "what are you using for a back stop?" I didn't see a huge steel plate set up. I suppose it is not inconceivable that they were using hand loaded frangible ammo, but I doubt it. Those three rounds would have created a hole as big as Jimmy G's porn star girlfriend.
Maybe they figured that since they told the whole world they would have shooters at the stadium, they would let them know they would be deploying .50's to deter some snackbar from thinking his ceramic plates would be of use.

I totally get the real world training at the actual location. Filming it, meh. Maybe deterrence but probably just doing what humans do, showing off. The .50... lolwhat.

I will be so happy when the: hey, look at me....Hey, you really need to look at me.....HEY, YOU, Yeah, you, you really need to LOOK AT ME: mentality goes away.

I saw it with what I do when Border Wars started. It started with ride alongs with news crews, someone decided it would be a good idea to document everything for the bad guys to learn from. Now everyone is happy, numbers are suddenly down. Yeah, we just issued a PhD on how to smuggle in video format.

Why post a damn video of what your snipers look like? Possible angles and locations. Why do one thing that makes it easier for the bad guy?

It is to let the serfs know it won't be easy pickings. As far as a .50bmg goes, the ".50 cal. on goats" vids are eye opening.

Wonder what that guy in the video is going to do in real life. It's one thing to take your time while sighting in, but if he's that slow in real life to get on target....

Funny stuff.. it’s a a big flex. No way they’re squeezing off rounds with a 50 during the game. Doubtful they’d take any shot at all, unless it was a drawn out hostage situation... and people were static.

I do love a good sniper story though... always reminds me of the shot the Columbus Ohio sniper took with that guy in the
last inning lawn chair.
