Just picked mine up tonight after thinking about it overnight. I'm impressed so far just handling it. Really looking forward to getting some ammo through it at some point this week. Few things I like so far:

-Very close in size to my PPS 9mm.
-Weight feels slightly less than the PPS.
-Trigger pull and reset is much better right out of the box than the PPS.
-Love the Fiber optic front sight.

After reading a bunch of reviews and handling it yesterday I knew I needed to add one to the safe. I've loved my PPS since I bought it and it has been 100% flawless for me. As soon as I saw the XDs I lusted after one. Just happened to check out a shop and they had one in the case. I've never been a huge fan of the XD lineup, but after actually looking at the XDs I was impressed. If it shoots as nice as it looks and feels then it is most definitely a winner!

Great write up and good job watermarking those photos, they'd be on Google images in a second. This was a tough choice to make a couple months ago, the XDs or the Glock 36. I went with the 36 only because of the extra round (and the fact that I love Glock). Hopefully I can buy a SA handgun sometime though, I want the 5.25" 9mm XD and I love the red front sight on the XDs. The way Springfield packs their pistols/accessories in that case foam, it looks so professional. Enjoy your new handgun! Hold her tight. [wink]

Thanks for the write up and the XDs porn, I want to pick one up eventually also. Love my PPS, but more options is always a good thing!

Nice pics.

I do have to question why they put a LIGHT RAIL on it though. For all that is holy...

A light rail on a subcompact pistol, is much like being in an IHOP, and overhearing a girl utter "If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year in college. "

A light rail on a subcompact pistol.

"Don't think about that too long, or blood will shoot out your nose."

I was thinking the same thing about my SR9c. Only the Viridian and Lasermax Micro will fit on there. And with a small rail, comes a big price. Oh well, I still love my gun and would never rely on a laser on my CCW.

The way they pack their pistols is pretty cool. I want an SA of some sort too. I can't decide on a SA Range Officer, or on an XD of some sort.

In Massachusetts, our attorney general Marsha Cookley thinks these pistols are unsafe to use, so I can not purchase one. :(

Be careful, they must be REAL unsafe and dangerous to operate.

Yes they are unsafe. The front red fiber optic sight is actually made with the puppies' blood which only the Massachusetts Attorney General can detect.

I think it's funny you can't buy them and in mass and they have a grip safty lol.I like 1911 so I don't mind a grip saftey.
I've started to like xd's it's all most like a glock and a 1911 had a bastard child...

Man I hate the toys I can't have in mass... I wish more gun makers would sell build it your self kits :(

This may be a small point, but thank God they rounded off the front of the trigger guard. I wish they would get rid of them on all their guns. A pox on whoever thought up that "feature."

I should have my 7rd mags tomorrow. I also ordered 100 rounds of Federal 230gr HST ammo to test in it. I also have a box of Speer Gold Dot 230gr HP Short Barrel ammo as well.

Hoping to hit the range tomorrow and run Remington UMC through it. If I get there I will try and get some video of it.

Also got to hit up the range try out some gold dot 200gr +p and Remington golden sabers 185gr I just got for it

The XD in 45 is the only polymer framed handgun that I can actually say I enjoyed shooting. Not sure what made it feel so good, but it just felt good in my hands, and was a pretty soft shooter. I would definitely recommend trying one out if the chance arises.

Edit: Durr, I just realized that you took those photos yourself. Very nice!

Just got back from Bridgeport Range. Put 200 rounds of UMC through her and a few mags of Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 230gr JHP.

It shot really well. Like the PPS, it is thin so with my larger hands it takes some getting used to. Towards the end my shooting hand was a bit sore. The gun performed very well. I had one failure to feed, but I think that was my "helping" the slide forward. I couldn't replicate the issue again.

I basically shot it at 15'-20' with a few mags at 40 or so feet to just get a feel for it. There are no lines indicating the distance so i'm guessing at what distance I shot, but they should be close. While I could hit a torso without much issue at 40', it excelled at closer range. Before my hand got sore I was able to double tap at 15' pretty close together. Slow steady, fire was good as well and it proved to be an accurate pistol when I cooperated.

I hadn't shot in over a month so I found myself anticipating some recoil every now and then which caused me to drop a shot every now and then.

This was my best grouping of the night. It was also one of the first few magazines I shot out of the gun.

This was at about the same distance as before, but with a 7 round magazine and I emptied it in rapid fire fashion. You can see the dropped shot, which was probably the second or third fired, at the bottom of the frame.

Recoil, for such a small .45, wasn't as bad as I expected.

All the mags (5 and 7 rounders) performed flawlessly. I can't wait to run some HST through it next once my order arrives.

Yeah short barrel 45's are much more accurate than I thought they'd be. I know I can keep my shots all in the black at 30 feet with my Glock 36. One handed is a different story [laugh]. Great review.
