Well I just put on lay away a new stoeger cougar pistol. mainly cause I like the way it looks. Its cambered in 40S&W. But the big seller was it has all its controls in the same spot as the M-9 pistol. I wanted a pistol that I could train with that had things all in the same spot as the M-9 service pistol. So I can keep my skills up between quals for my unit. It is the same pistol as the Beretta couger, but it did not sell well cause it was to expensive, so beretta sent all there tooling to there Stoeger in Turkey factory. And now make this pistol at a much cheeper price now. Has the same rotating barrel set up as the new beretta PX series pistol to boot. It felt really great in my hand better then any pistol I own or have owned. So I hope it will shoot just as well also.

Nice pick up - the Stoeger Cougar is very well reviewed and I had the opportunity to fire my buddies when I was in Ohio last year. It's a sweet pistol - especially for the price. His ran like a top, (said he had never had a single issue with it) and was pretty accurate too. Not sure why it was not successful for Beretta, (marketing maybe?). It had a very "old world" feel to it and seemed to be made well in the fit-n-finish department. Congrats! [cheers]

From all the stuff I read off the internet. When Beretta came out with the cougar the market had been flooded with compact pistols. And there were many pistols out there that were much cheaper and just as good if not maybe better. Cause you know how Beretta works anything with there name on it means its expensive. So because of the price it did not sell well. So now that they sent all there tooling to Turkey, they are able to sell it cheaper, so I guess its there last ditch effort to see if the consumers will buy it. I like the look of it, its not ugly like the P-92 a bit smaller accurate out to 25yards (which thats all one expects from a pistol). And all the controls are in about the same spot as the M-9. To provide me with a training aid when I am off the clock with the military. Oh ya just wanted to add in here when I said sold at a cheaper price we are talking almost $300.00 cheaper then the retail Beretta price. When I was at the store, they had a actual Beretta right next to it. And I could not tell the difference they were identical, both with nice hard chromed barrels and everything. The one thing I saw that made the Stoeger stand out was the spring guide rod on the Beretta was plastic, and the Stoeger was Stainless steel or polished alumminum. The Beretta in the case was used and the Stoeger was brand new and it was still $75.00 cheaper.

It has a unique look to it. The grip is as just a little shorter than the slide/barrel, giving it a different look look. Plus the barrel cams in and out of battery during firing and adds a unique feel to it as well. I have owned the Beretta and I own the Stoeger in 9 and 40. Great Gun!
