Hey everyone, so I've been wanting a surplus Italian police Beretta for some time now and have been tossing around the idea again. I've seen a few dealers/sites that sell them pretty cheap <400(dk firearms and palmetto state). Just wondering what the process on purchasing one is. I know it has to be sent to an FFL obviously, but do they have to deal with the dealer/site selling or do I? And then just have it sent there and let the dealer its being sent to know ahead of time? Or will they even ship it to Massachusetts at all? I'm assuming its not an issue due to its age. If its a hassle I will try and source one locally but ive never seen one for sale privately. I've never purchased a firearm online from a site and had it shipped so this is new to me. Also open to suggestions for an FFL that deals with these or willing to lend a hand.
Thanks for the help!

First thing is to get the exact model number, and see if a FFL is willing to transfer it.

You probably won't be able to get the hi caps with it, especially if it was made after 5/94

You may have to cut a deal with the seller to send you the mags separately

Where is the seller and are they a larger known business?

They would be pre94, but I was wondering that about the mags as well. Thats not a huge concern though. Im not exactly sure on the sellers location but most are out of state. I believe those two i mentioned are pretty well known, those are just the first two I saw. Didnt go too crazy looking who has them yet as I wasn't sure if it was even possible here yet.

I might go as far as asking your local FFL if he does business with any of the shops that have them and ask him to get it for you rather than you chasing it and dealing with the transfer

Ok ill probably go that route, id prefer it that way to be honest. Feel its easier then me playing messenger in the middle of it. Just didn't want to bother an ffl yet as I know how busy they are. Thanks!

I think you're talking about the M1951? You'll need a C&R FFL to get one in MA since its not on the list. I got one and love it, but magazines are hard to find and pricey when you do. Only 8 rounds max too.

Yes, dkfirearms has that and palmetto has the 92s(dont quote me on those, I looked briefly), was orginally after that but wasn't opposed to to the 1951 either, especially for the money. It won't be used much so I'm not too worried about capacity or mags. But thats interesting and complicates things I wasn't aware of that. Ill have to see if thats the case for the 92 as well. Thanks for the tip!

For the 92 you can probably find a dealer who will transfer it since there are 92s on the list, try the guys in Littleton.
