I was thinking about getting a SW M&P .40c.
I found one with 3 mags a holster, 50 hollow points and 100 fmj rounds for around $450

Then, just recently I came across a great deal for a SW M&P .40 shield for $430 with 2 mags included. Seems like a great deals since they are being sold for $500 used.

I wantone of these M&P's for my concealed weapon. I usually carry my gun inside the waistband. Does anyone have any input they can share with the comparison of the two? Pros/cons? Does the shield make that big of (small) difference or is it just hype? Right now I carry a g-19 but it leaves a big print. Maybe because of the holster? Either way I need a .40.

Thanks guys!

I find the 40c to be too big/heavy for concealed carry. ymmv The shield looked, and felt, to be more up my alley in terms of concealment wants.

The 40c carries just fine in the cross breed super tuck it's being sold with ;-). Also that price on the shield is probably inflated due to the gun just becoming available in mass. Correct me if I'm wrong but they are being sold for around 4 or less then 4 when they arrive.

The "Shield" is $420 ish and when ever S&W can produce enough they will be $399 just about everywhere. Im not at all sold on the Shield, as I REALLY dislike that fact that the hard part to conceal ( the grip area ) is longer than the compact models. Thickness and weight can be made up for with a good quality holster, length of grip cannot.

My only concern is the thickness of the compact since it's a .40. The shield looks thinner than my g19. I'm just concerned about the print of the Compact

I carried the 40c in that cross breed holster iwb with no printing issues at all. Yes it's larger than the shield. However you should be able to conceal your glock 19 with no issues either.

Can't comment on the shield, but I can give you my two cents on the M&P .40c. I carry daily in a Comp Tac MTac IWB. Conceals without any problem and doesen't feel heavy or thick. The key to comfort for me is wearing pants 2 inches larger than normal waist size, good belt (A&G Custom, Wilderness 5 Stitch & Ares Gear) and good holsters (Comp Tac & Raven Concealment when wearing OWB). .40c dissapears under a button down shirt and most t-shirts if they are relatively loose cut.

The pistol itself is very manageable as far as recoil and follow-up shots go for a .40. With the compact, I'm also able to get a full grip - even with large hands - and 10 + 1 capacity. I've never had a malfunction with around 1,000 rounds through it.

Hope this helps.
