Ted Nugent on guns and Obama

Regarding Piers Morgan (and all who spout this fact): 80 people per day (also known as 30,000 people per year) killed by firearms is counting suicides by gun -- nobody thinks that suicides won't happen in the absence of guns.

On a larger note that includes the silly "pregnant women chart": Murders happened before guns existed; murders will continue if guns ceased to exist; and creeps who would kill their pregnant girlfriends can do it without a gun (as the chart demonstrated -- 42% used something else).

If you (Nugent) are going to play the numbers game you need to be a little more careful with your numbers.
On your point of suicides, the typical year's FBI data I have seen shows that 52-56% of "Deaths by firearm" are suicide....

So, of that "80 people per day" more than 40 are self inflicted... Again, as you point out half of people committing suicide do so with something other than a firearm. Moreover there is not even a correlation between suicide rates and access to firearms, much less any causal link.

There are two different data points they are talking about in that video - percent of homicides committed by repeat offenders and # of deaths by firearm.

"Kiss my ass" is right...

A little more than half of all shooting deaths are suicides.

The majority of gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides,[5] with 17,352 (55.6%) of the total 31,224 firearm-related deaths in 2007 due to suicide, while 12,632 (40.5%) were homicide deaths.
