Leaving RI sure has made it easier to enjoy my firearms hobbies. Since moving to an American state I have become an Appleseed instructor and coach for an NRA youth rifle program. Last year I created a half-day clinic on rifle maintenance, and based on that spent a couple hundred hours writing a book about the 10/22, which has become one of my favorite rifles. The book is designed for the new or casual 10/22 owner, who wants to understand thoroughly how this rifle works, how to diagnose and fix malfunctions, and how to maintain it properly.

After finalizing The 10/22 Companion book for publication, I keep encountering new situations that deserved to be covered, including issues people had with malfunctions, rifle fit or operating their rifles smoothly. It became clear that we needed a blog to deal with new situations and questions as they come up. The blog will cover operating tips, function tweaks, new product reviews, and other topics of interest as they come up, so updates will not be daily. So far we have articles on making the rifle safe safely, an unusual malfunction situation, and making transitions in 3-position shooting smoother. I am working on a comparison test of various brands of snap caps, and a future article documenting the process of bedding the action on one of my 10/22s.

Once we figure out how the video editing software works, we plan to have regular video posts as well. Next year I plan to write about another popular firearm and am considering either the Ruger Mark pistols or the Marlin 60 and 795 siblings.

The blog is non-commercial, and is separate from the book's commercial website 1022Companion.com. I hope you will find it interesting and useful.

Thank you. Since we aren't posting every day, the best way to know when we post a new article is to follow the blog. That way you will receive email notification when a new post goes up. I'm now editing a video on a foolproof method of operating the OEM bolt release with details of how it works inside the rifle.

I have just started what will be an irregular series of articles about sight/scope adjustment and zeroing on my blog, 1022Companion.wordpress.com . This one starts with the most basic principles and goes on to calculating and making the required sight adjustment for the 10/22 leaf sight and Tech-Sights for barrels of varying lengths.

The series will move on through IMC, .22LR ballistics, and adjusting for varying distances, and will also cover scopes. So if your knowledge is beyond this one, we'll catch up to you soon.

Because posts will not be on a regular schedule, the best way to keep up with this topic's progress is to click the Follow button on the blog. That will send you an email each time there is an update.
