I had a 908S at one time and liked the gun. I miss that slim grip. I now have a glock 19. Its a great gun but not as comfortable.

Did S&W ever make a 3913 with a steel frame? That to me seems like it would be about perfect.

I was typing to quick please disregaurd my spelling.

You can easily fix that. Select "edit post" then "go advanced." That will allow you to edit the title of the thread.

No, all the 3rd Gen. compact 391x series were aluminum framed pistols.

The 3913 has stainless slide and light colored anodized frame. The 3914 has a blued steel slide and black anodized frame. There is also the 3913 "Ladysmith", that has a frame that tapers a bit towards the muzzle end. The 3913 NL is the same as the "Ladysmith", but does no have the Ladysmith logo on the slide. Also a great pistol.

The 908 is a great pistol, too. A little "blocky" compared to the 3913 and used a few plastic parts, but still a wonderful pistol.

There is also a DAO version, the 3953 (stainless) and 3954 (blued). I like these the best. Very slim, due to not having any decock/safety levers, and probably one of the best DAO triggers out there. They are hard to find around here, but they do turn up every now and again.

I like the 3953 enough to make it my constant companion:

I've owned a 4013 for 20 years, not the same but very, very similar to that 3913. I still have it for a reason, it has never failed to feed anything or eject for that matter with over 11,000 rds thru it. But I'm sorry guys, give up any of my Glocks for it, NOOOO.

I dont know. The 3913 seems nice I just dont like the ambi safty. On the other hand im not that stoked about the plastic parts on the 908.

It has been a while since I bought a New gun. A new shooter told me Glocks are Now mass compliant and I can buy a new 1. Does this mean Glock has lost it's luster here in the Commiewealth?

Really the only things that are plastic on the 908 are:

the sights (easily replaced)

guide rod (just about every pistol now uses a plastic guide rod and they work fine. But if you still don't like it easily replaced with a metal one from a 3913)

Magazine release button (just the button - can't really be replaced with a comparable metal part, but I've never heard of one of these breaking unless you try to take it apart)

Mainspring plunger (works better than the comparable metal part - provides a natual lubricity and prevents mainspring from binding or catching on edge of plunger)

and the disconnector (again, some say it works better than the metal one - can be molded to tighter tollerances than the metal one and also has that natual lubricity that plastic against metal has. If you don't like it, can also easily be replaced with a metal one.)

908 is a good pistol. Accurate and reliable. I would have no problem carrying one of these (and I have!)

No plastic parts in my 3913, and as far as the safety/decocker goes it never caused a problem while carrying IWB with a CrossBreed. PM me if you would like to try it out some time.

i will straight up trade you my 6906 for the glock 19

I appreciate your offer but the 6906 does not have the slim grip. I think im looking for a gun that has not yet been made.

Try the new S&W shield. I have the same likes as well. 3rd gen single stack S&W are IMHO the best carry guns. The only problem is the weight. I'm really looking forward to the MA release of this.

Either that or try to find a S&W CS9. I foolishly let mine go for a CS45. The 45 is nice, accurate and reliable but the grip is thick. The CS9 was perfect but I wanted a bigger caliber at the time. I'm rethinking that again.

I might hold out for the shield. It looks like it could be a good one. I just hope the mag release is a little stiffer than the one on the m&p.
