This is disturbing yet hilarious

These politicians are A disgrace. I don't know how in her head she can justify that. It just goes to show you how out of touch with reality a lot of these people are. Even worse these nut jobs are trying to past legislation and dictate how the rest of country should live.

It just goes to show that even in "conservative" states there are districts where you can get elected and re-elected with this kind thinking. A creeping cancer on the country.

This is semi-fake.

The politician is real, but the quoted section isn't her actual work or real quotes, it's conservative satire.

"Language in the post can be traced back to a Dec. 5 blog written by the conservative humorist John Semmens, who confirmed to The Associated Press it was a work of satire based on the real bill. However, his post is being shared as real on social media."

CLAIM: A bill introduced in Texas by Democratic state Rep. Terry Meza would repeal the state’s “castle doctrine” law, which allows a homeowner to use deadly force against an armed intruder. The bill, HB 196, would require the homeowner to “flee the home” at the first sign of intrusion, and if fleeing is not possible, “cooperate with the intruder.”

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. Meza’s bill would not repeal the state’s “castle doctrine” law, and it wouldn’t alter actions Texans may currently take during a home invasion. Instead, it would amend the state penal code to require Texas residents to retreat if possible if someone outside the home threatens them or their property. Meza’s bill doesn’t instruct homeowners to “cooperate” with an intruder, nor does it prevent them from using deadly force in self-defense if they are unable to retreat.

She is the rep for Irving, smack in the middle between Dallas and Fort Worth.

She has submitted dozens of bills. All of them read like the Democrat play book. Assault weapon ban, magazine limits, ERPO, mail in voting, etc.

A lefty in the middle of a big blue zone.

TTAG had an article on this too. Same conclusion.

I'm sure the politician is a POS and I would not support this bill, however the social media post in the OP is false info which makes gun owners look bad, in my opinion.

I wonder if this dingbat would call the cops if thieves showed up at her house to rob her. I mean being a legislator and all she must have some good stuff lying around just waiting to be redistributed. She can sit outside in her yard with an accomplice holding a gun to her head you know for 'cooperation' purposes. Afterwards she can tell us all how liberating and life fulfilling it was to give up her personal possessions at gun point.

I mean, the bill allows you to defend yourself if you're in your home, including with lethal force if you can't retreat. So probably.
It's a dumb bill, but as noted, the section from the OP was written by a conservative satirist. They're fabricated quotes.

Everything posted on the internet should be treated as satire.
In an age where you can google something's validity in about two seconds, people seem awfully quick to forward/post stuff without doing any checking on it.

Reminds me how I was reading the other day a sports publication included a fake quote from a Lebron James parody account. The guy made his account look similar and included a fake "Verified" logo and the website printed the tweets as if they were actually from Lebron himself. Gotta get that scoop!

Usually it's funny but like in this case, just makes gunowners look gullible in my opinion.

I also get a kick out of when celebrities don't realize they're interacting with a parody account. One guy posted a screenshot of a male pornstar and said "this is my cousin, he died fighting for your freedoms, I'd appreciate a shout out" and he got some politician to say like "my condolences, I thank him for his service" lol

Well, if they reply you get a lot of eyeballs. It takes a very light touch to troll well. Most people are in it for shock and awe. Excellent trolling is indistinguishable from high level retardation.

The word trolling itself has been largely diluted. In its original form, it was intended to be indistinguishable from sincere posting.
Now it's just "people being sarcastic on the internet."

I believe in "fair and equitable distribution" for home invasion. I have all the lead and will happily share with whoever is breaking into my house to steal/harm me.

It's already happened in Seattle. The leading proponent of defunding the police was outraged when she called 9-1-1 and was told they had no one to respond because of the cuts.
