No one needs those. They're dangerous weapons of war. Ban them.

I don't (or more accurately, hope I never do) need an AR-15, but if I want one, why the hell should anyone have a compelling need to stop me?

plus EFFIN one! Why do I have to justify my purchase. I get this all of the time - "why do you need another gun, don't you have a couple already?" - because I WANT one

This... Most of the hunters I know and talk to about guns feel the same way. Everybody I know that hunts, ONLY hunt, they dont see the need or reason to own any other kind of firearm. Usually what i try to do is get them to the range to shoot some of my stuff and get the seed planted. but it doesnt always work
I don't know about that, I know this is your experience but certainly not mine. Most of the guy's that I hunt with also shoot other sports and are generally into gun's. Especially where I grew up. I grew up hunting, fishing, and trapping basically since I could walk. I only relayed this story as a point that we as gun owners are still very fractured and many in this state for sure are very uninformed( not on this site). I was not trying to say that because he only hunted that's all he cared about, I am also a very passionate hunter. I was just pointing out that although some people may own handguns or hunting rifles does not mean they are on our side when it comes to the second amendment, sadly. He will be going to the range with me real soon so I can hopefully change his attitude![smile]

Brilliant
I love the analogy! The only thing is why is his rifle way over on the right side of the door? he would have to cross the path of the right hand swinging door and move about 4 feet to reengage. As opposed to having it on the left side of the door where he could quickly take cover and reengage.

I figured that's the road you were pointing down - OUTSTANDING way to illustrate the argument. That doesn't leave much room for a Fudd's rebuttal, either.

Like Jose said, brilliant!

Is it a turkey gun or a riot gun?

I usually don't go out of my way to be PC, but this caught my eye when I was looking for a HD shotgun.

We had a rabid racoon in the dog kennel a couple of weeks ago and my wife needed 6 shots from the .22 to put it down.

The Mossberg "turkey gun" is coming home on tax-free Saturday.

Fudds, two legged varmints and racoons won't notice it until it's too late.[wink]

The FUDD's attitude is chillingly similar to those moonbats who think that by appeasing terrorists and criminals they will somehow be spared in the future.

Baa, baa, baa.

I thought he was talking about the subway (MBTA). Since when is MTB translated to "mountain bike"? I have a mountain bike, and have never called it nor heard MTB.

Oh wow, me too. I just noticed bill o's post. I thought this was a subway conversation as well.

Eh, that's a shotgun.

There's an M4 leaning against the wall to the right of the door.

Personally, I don't get why anyone wouldn't want a telescoping (or perhaps folding) stock on a hunting gun. They're useful on two-legged varmint guns, why not 4-legged varmint guns?

It's an M16A4 with a 203. I also don't think it's his. I've never seen someone issued a 203 and a Mossberg together. Not saying it's never happened, but I've never seen it.

M4, M16A4 w/ M203....close enough [laugh]

I didn't think it was his either, that seems like an odd load-out.

ETA: Just actually looked at the picture (beyond seeing the basic AR silhouette), and I should have noticed that it was infact an M16A4 w/ M203, and not an M4. Silly me.

I tell the likes of him that I will do everything I can to lobby for any anti-hunting measure I can find.

I'm a gun owner and I don't hunt, so I don't GAF how difficult it becomes to hunt.

I've said similar things to people who I know that hunt and have made comments about "nobody needs an assault rifle". I mention to them that the reason why I own a rifle is for the same reason why the founding fathers created the 2nd amendment: to DEFEND oneself. Then I go on to say that hunters are against the 2nd amendment because they use their guns to out and KILL THINGS.

Then I follow up with: "every time I hear a hunter make an anti-gun comment I go out and contribute money to any anti-hunting organization I can find just because you guys are a pack of idiots and I know you will screw me over at your next opportunity to vote - so I am returning the favor".

Fudds need to be kicked in the nuts every once in a while.

The most natural thing in teh world it to look out for one's self-interest. Most people do not take the long view.

Based on this, there's no "reason" for a Fudd to support access to EBRs. The thought that there's a slippery slope does not occur to them...after all, there's no relationship between a EBR and a Citori. Until later, when the Citori is pilloried as a muliti-shot weapon capable of deploying high-mass penetrators or wide-dispersal anti-personnel munitions. But that day will never come. Right?

There is no solid, cohesive "guiding influence" for gun owners (look at the recent treads highlighting the negatives, as opposed to the positives, of noth NRA and GOAL on this board) . Fortunately, this is balanced by a lack of both momentum and cohesiveness on the Antis' side.

It's the old "join or die" thing.....

One way EBR gun owners can get the Fudds pulled into the suck of gun control - is to 'cross over' and start taking hunting rifles and making them into "sniper rifles". This is already happening on the other side because lots of hunters are using AR's for hunting. This is a dangerous game - but the next time some Fudd opens his pie-hole about EBR's - tell him that you have talked to your local rep about getting his expensive hunting rifle banned because it's a "long range sniper rifle".

People have got to wake up - when they're asleep a good swift kick in the nuts is pretty much guaranteed to wake them - Ergo: hunters need to start feeling threatened - REALLY threatened.

Minor change...to slam home the point. Because hunting is what these people are doing to gun owners...

Since the internet? Many of the websites that are dedicated to mountain biking use this as the designation. Also on any bike forum( I know, I sometimes visit other forums) Use this acronym. I would post them hear for you to take a look at but I think it's against the rules.

I saw many with this exact load out. I never saw anyone that was just issued a shotgun. It may not be his, I just found it odd that it was leaning over there? Maybe the picture is staged and it is the picture takers?

I was recently told I was "Turning the house into a gun shop" and that I "have enough guns". Just said "Ive never sold a gun in my life, and there are others I still want... guess that settles that, huh?"[smile]

First they came for the "assault rifles". And I didn't speak out, because I was a Fudd.
Then they came for the semi-automatic pistols with large cap mags. And I didn't speak out, because I was a Fudd.
Then they came for my bolt action deer rifle.

You read my mind.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
