Does anyone have one or shot one are they descent, accurate? Thinking of getting a .308 in the AR platform don't want to build one and prefer the heavier barrel, comments suggestions.

They are more than decent, I originally bought one about three years ago .... 24" heavy barrel,,, would make one hole in paper off the bench @ 100 yds... BUT... was so front heavy I couldn't shoot it offhand. so I sold it to a bench shooter and bought a 16" barrelled replacement which will shoot a lot better than I can offhand. It makes a little larger hole @ 100 yds but most of the holes are touching.... this w 82 year old uncorrected eyes.

Several guys got in on an 80% lower group buy last year. I built mine up with dpms-branded upper, bcg, sass barrel, spring and buffer. Geissele trigger. Magpul stock. Griffin muzzle device, Troy trx handguard & Nikon M-308 4-16×42 scope. Still getting it sorted out to find it's favorite ammo, but so far I'm getting ~2+" groups. I know it can do better.

One of my favorite guns. I bought it when they first came out for less than I could buy an Ar 15! Very accurate, reliable, and will shoot any factory ammo I've run thru it.
24" stainless 1-10 twist heavy barrel is not suited for off hand shooting. I have the lead weight in the stock, and also another 3lbs taped to the outside of it. It does balance this way, and if I build a good shooting position, I can shoot my average with it off hand. I'd like to buy the new 6.5 upper for it.

The AR snobs will tell you that DPMS stands for didn't pass mil spec. Don't believe them.

I don't know what you want it for, but those who have the bull barrel target style DPMSs seem to love them. A friend of mine has one in 6.5 creedmore and it is a great great gun.

They have also come out with a smaller, lighter variant that is almost the size of a .223 gun the G2 It seems to be the same situation there, with the heavier barrel guns getting great reviews.

With all that said. I'd keep my eyes open to see what comes out of SHOT since more variants of the G2may comeout.

Had a DPMS Panther 308T a few years back. Great rifle...after a first round glitch, (action locked forward and had to work it free) but it was perfect after that. Accurate (tack driver works) and reliable for roughly 2000 rounds before I gave it to my son in law.

I saw them on sale (on line) for pretty good prices...308T for $799...pre holidays (CDNN, Grab A Gun etc).
