I'm a big boy and have difficulty finding a comfortable holster setup. I had carried an sd40ve in a leather iwb holster. It was pretty comfortable but the gun and holster were so heavy that they needed frequent adjusting. Also, the holster was very large and would print unless I wore it at 3 o clock. But, at 3 o clock it was uncomfortable to sit or drive. So I switched to a shield 9mm in an aliengear 3.0 holster. The holster is aweful! It is so floppy and flimsy that it is difficult to put on and adjust. Also it holds the gun very high up, even with the clips adjusted. It is reasonably comfortable while standing but the holster can slide out of place when sitting and it pushes the buttstock into my side. I spent a lot of time researching different holsters and carry styles. Ideally I wanted to find a holster that would hold the gun very low on the waistline (under my love handles). I briefly considered buying a pair of "thunderwear" but they look a bit ridiculous. I stumbled across the Urban Carry Holster. It looks a little odd and the gun does sit very low in the pants but it looks like the gun would be totally concealed and very comfortable to carry for long periods of time.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with either the Thunderwear holster or the Urban carry Holster. I know I cant be the only husky guy who has had a difficult time finding a comfortable carry setup. For the time being I am carrying my shield in a homemade kydex holster that does the trick for now. Any input is appreciated.

maybe move it a little further back on your hip...I wear mine on my left hip and do pretty much everything fairly comfortably. I have a milt sparks summer special 2 for a ppk/s

I have the Smart Carry based on the review by ITS found here http://www.itstactical.com/warcom/accessories/deep-concealment-face-off-smartcarry-vs-thunderwear/
I like it but fint it difficult to get comfortable with a soft side and no stiff trigger guard

This may seem like and odd question but I assume your a dude- does the gun flop or swing around and hit you in the zone? Is seems like this type of holster would allow the gun to swing a bit. I can imagine some discomfort while climbing stairs or walking a lot.

I have a Smartcarry, similar to Thunderwear, and it works great for certain modes of dress. I usually use that holster when wearing gym shorts. You can get away with carrying a cannon in one until you sit down. An M&P Shield sized gun worked best for me. Draw is slow, but at least you have a gun on you. It doesn't work well in jeans, but I can see Smartcarry working fine in khakis or cargo pants if worn loose enough.

Give the covert tactical a look. It sits really low,and secure and accessible
I wear it all day,and couldn't be more pleased.

That looks a lot like the Stealth Gear appendix carry holsters. The big difference it SG puts the clip along the top of the gun rather than the bottom. Mine is due in the mail today for my P320. I'll be my first time trying appendix carry with a holster specifically designed for it.

I've been looking for a new holster also. Currently have a Comptac Minotaur but the thing I hate about it is the added bulk under the pants and the clips, even though being under the pants make it difficult to use my pockets. If carried at 3 o'clock it makes using my front and rear pocket on that side difficult. I usually use 3 pockets on my pants/shorts, keys in one front, phone in the other front and wallet in the back.

I saw the urban carry today and trying to find reviews on it and one person mentioned something rather important on it - you need 2 hands to be able to draw which isn't always possible if you are trying to fend off an attacker.

While on the urban carry site though I saw this and so far kind of liking the idea of it: http://urbancarryholsters.com/holsters-38/sport-belt/gun-holster-sport-belt-black.html

Anyone have any reviews or experience with it?

So far I see Pros: can use my PPS or G23, carries mags, I can wear with my shorts which don't have large belt loops for my carry belt, can wear with my athetic shorts for running, biking, hiking etc.

Cons: may be difficult to reholster at 4 o'clock position, sweat getting on gun (maybe a friend can stitch a piece of neoprene on the back to keep between gun and skin)

I have the Thunderwear and it serves a purpose when you are wearing shorts without a belt. While you can wear them with jeans, they better be a pretty loose fit to enable access to the pistol. It is best suited to a small single stack pistol.

My favorite IWB for the last 20 years has been the Andrews McDaniel II. It is soft molded, so it doesn't feel like a rock in your waistband. While a full size all steel 1911 is noticeable, an alloy frame compact 1911, or a Glock 23 is not and is comfortable all day. A metal throat band allows one handed re-holstering. Other advantages include interchangeable belt loops, and adjustable for cant.
If you order one, get the body shield option.
