picked up a Ruger American rimfire in .17hmr

got it home, cleaned it up and got it to the range today just because. forgot to bring a small screw driver to adj. the rear sight so i had to hold about 10" low at 50yd to hit my target. but other then that it sure beats the heck out of the savage93 in .17 i had been borrowing, fit wise that is. I dont feel like i'm shooting/holding a little kids rifle anymore, the length of pull is much more comfortable.

will play with the trigger adj at some point, but out of the box it is nice and crisp. will put the gauge to it at some point but no complaints about it for now.

now to get my own spotting scope, esp for shooting at 100yd. blasted holes are too small =P even at 50yd asked someone who was there to spot for me with their rifle, for a few shots, and they only had a 3x9 and could barely see the holes

At 25/ 50yards when shooting my mosin, I hold up my 795 with a scope on it to see where I'm hitting [laugh]

I'm looking to get the American in .308. I already have my scope for it!

My son is real interested in getting one in 308.
What's the overall impression of it?

I'll first say I am a very inexperienced at shooting rifles. But, as an inexpensive bolt action, this looks really good. I've shot one in 30-06, and was a lot of fun. Great reviews all over. I figure spend a little first and practice before going all out a real nice bolt action that's twice the price. I hope to get it within a few months.
