TSA agents found the handgun had a round chambered and 12 cartridges loaded in a magazine, along with a loaded spare magazine also containing 12 rounds. After the firearm was found, Portland police responded and questioned the man, who was not identified. Police returned the handgun to him, and he secured it in his vehicle and was allowed to catch his flight, the TSA said. This is the third gun found at the jetport this year. The other two loaded guns were seized less than two months ago, on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The man, who was not identified, had a 9 mm handgun loaded with 12 bullets, including one in the chamber, tucked into the outer pocket of a black messenger bag when he attempted to pass through a checkpoint, according to Lisa Farbstein, a spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration. A TSA official spotted the firearm when the man’s bag passed through a checkpoint X-ray machine, Farbstein said. Airport security confiscated the firearm and detained the man for questioning, Farbstein said. He was later released and allowed to secure the firearm in his vehicle before returning to catch his flight, she said.

My bet was the guy was a LEO.....

Nope, states that don't have shit laws about guns in airports routinely will give people a pass. I want to say in GA or some state like that it's basically a civil infraction / small fine and you go get your gun back when you come back from (wherever).
