Types of 870's

I have wanted an 870 for a while as my 1st shotgun and have seen so many different variations and prices. What are the best ones and their price ranges? I am looking for nothing fancy but want a solid shotty that will last and can accept a couple different barrels and she'll sizes.

Friend of mine says that the "wing masters" are among the best 870's

I got the "Remington 870 Express Super Magnum Combo " which can take 3 1/2" shells, and come with a rifled sighted barrel 18", and a 26" barrel with choke. I shoot trap with it. That cost about $500.

Try to find something older. The new ones are crap. Especially the express.

I had one older express that was ok. Old wingmasters are great guns

Good thread. I'd like an 870 as well. But you're right, it seems like there is 50 different models.

I am looking for an old "Police Magnum" version.

I have a 1960s wingmaster that my father bought new. Nice, but only takes 2 3/4 shells

In 12 gauge. 3" is enough except if you're hunting snow geese at long range, or possibly government drones.

Then add an 18" home defense bbl
