Description : U.S. Springfield Armory M1- Garand National Match II – 30.06 cal. Serial No.5382285. National Match, Type II, with sling. Produced after 1958. “NM/062” marked front sight and “NM/2a” rear sight with swiveling eyecup, “NM BME” windage knob and NI-C” elevation knob. The barrel is marked “NM” on the left and SA F7791035 1 63 Y9 P M (eagle). Springfield bolt, trigger group and hammer. Smooth stock with an Ordnance cartouche on the left side, “P” on the grip, checkered steel butt plate and a “MRT” brown leather sling. Stock is glass bedded and varnished.
Features: Bolt: Markings on the rear portion are D28287-16SA and 0-17 under the D28287-16SA. Barrel: NM SA F7791035 1-63 Y 9 P M. Using a M1 Barrel Gages, Throat Erosion gage, indicates “2” Muzzle Gage indicates “x”. Sights: Rear-sight assembly – NM/2A hooded aperture offering ½ minute increments by rotating the “hood”, Front-sight - NM .062. Op-Rod: NM SA “cut” rod with radius cut Trigger Group Assembly: Milled SA housing and SA safety; hammer is WRA. Stock: Bedded and fully sealed with varnish. The Front Stock Ferrule Assembly is “unitized” to the front stock handguard per NM building process.
Provenance: CMP Letter dtd November 5, 2020 stating the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (DCM) sold this rifle on April 21, 1971 with a copy of the Shipping Document and Reporting Depot.
