I went to the HRC today AND tried calling multiple times but it doesn't seem like anyone is there/has been there..? Anyone know the deal?

Yes it exists. I was there yesterday. It's not maned at all times. Look at there schedual on the internet site.. Activities are going on almost everynight, and sat. mornings. There will be someone there during those times. Other times, each member has a key and can let themselves in any time they want.

Didn't provide much..[thinking]

The site has info on how to join, the club leadership, the location, courses of instruction offered, activities, and contact info, in case you have questions. What specifically were you hoping to see?

I don't belong to that club, but if I ran a club website, I'd like to know what folks like you felt was valuable info.

Perhaps I'm just too new; still in search for an evening shooting buddy and want to join a range close to Westfield MA.

Why aren't you looking At the Agawam Revolver Club? It's $100 per year and includes a years membership in the NRA. 10 indoor ranges and soon to be 20. 100 yard outside rifle ranges. Heated indoor - Very nice.

Also Westfield is 60.00 per year. It has great rifle ranges but poor indoor range facilities.

I belong to both but prefer Agawam.

Just MHO, but Holyoke Revolver Club is a club only Mayor Bloomberg could love. It is mostly geared to group activities, particularly bullseye shooting. Individuals are not allowed to use much of the clubs resources such as full use of range lighting, targets, target holders, etc.
Also just to gain access to the ranges you must:
1. Unlock the main gate with a key to a pad lock
2. Unlock the club house door with a different card key
3. Sign in to the sign in log with date and time ( both when you arrive and again when you leave)
4. Wear a club badge so it can be seen at all times
5. Submitt to being under constant survailence cameras which are aimed at club members to help prevent members from commiting any rules infractions.

Again, just my honest opinion, but spend your club membership money where you'll get the most enjoyment and the least amount of hassles and restrictions.
The Holyoke Revolver Club has over $70,000 in cash, yet you will have to pay extra for almost all the group activities the club has.

No doubt there will be HRC fan boys who will respond to this post by attacking me. However the plain and simple fact is that all I am stating is just the way things are at HRC. These are not my opinions. These are simply facts.

Actually the statement about Mayor Bloomberg isn't a fact. That one is my opinion and in all fairness I don't know if its true. I honestly feel it could be or might true, but I really don't know for sure.

The point of this post is really not to throw stones at HRC. Myself and others have met with the executive board and voiced our opinion on the cameras being put up to watch the membership. The meeting took place before they had made a final decision on the issue.

While I completely disagreed with what their opinion was, they listened respectfully as we did with them. Once the cameras were put up, I effectively quit the HRC by no longer going and letting my membership expire.

I have no ill feelings with HRC. Many of the board members are great guys who I have shot with on several occasions. However, with the facts being what they are at HRC, I would recomend people to join clubs where none of the nonsense of HRC exists. I have found other clubs to be far superior in every aspect. Agawan, Westfield, and Easthampton to name a few.

However, for those people who really enjoy Bullseye shooting, don't mind being under the constant watchful eye of big brother, don't mind not being able to have full use of the indoor range lighting or club resources, don't mind the hassles of just getting into the place, don't mind paying extra for any group activity, don't mind that the indoor range is almost always in use during prime hours, (check out their calendar) then HRC is a good choice for them.

However, for those who are more interested in individual activities, who would prefer an indoor range with full lighting so that they can place their targets at different points on the range, who would prefer simple access without the hassles of multiple locks, gates, doors, sign in and sign out sheets, etc. etc. And who mostly do not like the idea of someone looking over their shoulder all the time, then for those people I suggest that their membership money would be well spent elsewhere.

Paul,
You obviously got butt hurt about something to resurrect a three month old thread for your first post in two years. If you are that upset then why do you still belong to the club? Anyway, MHO is in red below.

Just MHO, but Holyoke Revolver Club is a club only Mayor Bloomberg could love. It is mostly geared to group activities, particularly bullseye shooting. Individuals are not allowed to use much of the clubs resources such as full use of range lighting, targets, target holders, etc. Targets are always available, target holders are fixed to the carriers so I don't know what you mean, and the USPSA gear belongs to Chris, not the club, so No you don't get access to it
Also just to gain access to the ranges you must:
1. Unlock the main gate with a key to a pad lock You don't have to unlock the gate. Park along the fence like I do. Its literally a 10 yard walk.
2. Unlock the club house door with a different card key Would you prefer we leave the door unlocked? Our club is in the middle of the woods.
3. Sign in to the sign in log with date and time ( both when you arrive and again when you leave) I have never been to a private club that doesn't require this. Not sure why its a big deal either
4. Wear a club badge so it can be seen at all times Other "members only" clubs require this as well. Not sure why its such a big deal anyway
5. Submitt to being under constant survailence cameras which are aimed at club members to help prevent members from commiting any rules infractions. We are sick of retards vandalizing our club! The tapes are only reviewed if there is an incident. You had an opportunity to voice your objection at the meeting. I didn't see you there

Again, just my honest opinion, but spend your club membership money where you'll get the most enjoyment and the least amount of hassles and restrictions. THEN WHY ARE YOU A MEMBER!!!!!

The Holyoke Revolver Club has over $70,000 in cash, yet you will have to pay extra for almost all the group activities the club has I would gladly spend $2-5 per event so the club can continue to upgrade the facilities.

To the OP,
Don't mind Paul. He is known to be a complainer. If you are still interested in joining or would just like a tour PM me.

Ahhh Tim! I fear your response in itself speaks volumes about HRC! I have simply stated facts as they are. Your response is as opinionated as it is inaccurate. However some of your rant does validate certain facts I have stated. For example....." We are sick of retards vandalizing our club"
Brilliant Tim! Who wouldn't want to join a club where folks such as yourself view the membership as retards? But you are correct Tim, that IS why the cameras were put up after all, now isn't it?

Now I don't want to waste time pointing out every incorrect statement you made, mostly because every statement you made was incorrect, but I will point out a few.

First of all Tim, I am no longer a member at HRC. I voiced my opinions to the executive board and after they put up the cameras I stopped going and let my membership expire.

Secondly Tim, I don't know you! And since you don't know me, or even know enough about me to know if I'm a member or not, please do not label me as a complainer. Again... You don't know me! The discussion I had with the board members was done in a courteous and respectful manner on both sides. Unlike yourself, the board members respectfully listened to what I had to say as did I with what they had to say.

Also Tim, the USPSA gear as you call it, does not belong to Chris. It was purchased by HRC with club funds. However when members asked at a meeting if they could use it, they were told no. Even when the members said they would sign out for it and take full responsibilty for it, they were still told no because "they would ruin it". These are steel targets we are talking about, and I was not one of the members asking about it.

Lastly Tim, let me once again point out that what I stated was all fact! The only opinion I stated was that HRC is a gun club only Mayor Bloomberg could love. Now to be honest Tim, I really don't know if that is a fact or not. I really believe it is, but in all honesty it's just my opinion.

Be at peace Tim.
And don't forget to smile for those cameras. ;-)
