My trade for the Sauer 38H rig came today. Very nice Underwood. Serial number 1418250 indicates late first block of 100,000 (1350000 1449999 Nov 42 to Jul 43 #100000), so June of '43, but it wears an 8/44 Underwood barrel....so re-barrel or reject/recycle serial receiver? Stock and trigger group are IBM; and bolt and op-rod are Underwood. J.S.&S. 1943 pouch, Tweedie 1944 muzzle cover, 2 Inland and 1 Underwood magazines. Trying to identify the PJ handguard; best guess is Pederson.

Carbine has the updated rear sight, but still has the push button safety and no bayonet lug.

I have 6 rolls of film for my c. 1938 British licensed Kodak. Hope to get some good pics. I think I heard 1500 German and 2500 Allied.

Been in Ohio 4 days now. Big DDay battle tomorrow at 3. Have shot 4-1/4 rolls of BW 620 film. Home Sunday, drop off film Monday; should have it by the end of next week.

Some phone pics from another unit member.

Repaired trigger group came today with another recoil spring; you can see the original is an inch too short. Off to NY tomorrow, so I’ll try it out Monday

And here's a picture of me taking a picture during the big battle as we're about to be overrun.

I'm the company clerk for my WW2 unit. The sign on the grenade on top of my desk says:
"For complaints: Stand behind the nearest tree and pull the string"

Underwood at 25 yards, New Remington ammo. 15/15/5 rounds. Improved each time. Saved 15 rounds for 100 yards. Everything works fine now.

Dissapointed at 100 yards. Swapped magazines as there were 2 misfeeds; no problems after that. Rear sight moved up a notch on its own. Those first 4 were the low shots. Moved the sight to 200 and did better. Practice will tell.
