Hello. I own a windham Weaponry ar15, and the stock is pinned . The way it is now is way too extended . I want to change out the stock to probably a magpul stock but I'm wondering how to unpin the factory stock and then repin the magpul if that's necessary.

Hello. I own a windham Weaponry ar15, and the stock is pinned ...

This might help:

"Can I adjust the length of my permanent telestock?

The permanent telestock – as found on compliant models sold in the States of NY, NJ, CT, MA and MD, is not adjustable. This is a requirement of the regulations in those States. The buffer tube is specially made for that stock (i.e. it is not simply a telestock that has been permanently extended). The length of pull is about ½ inch shorter than a standard, fully extended telestock. We did have a customer recently that bought one of our normal telestocks and had it converted into a fixed stock. You can take a normal telestock and adjust it to the length you want, and have it drilled and have two roll pins inserted in a way in which they cannot be removed. This customer took the stock to his gunsmith to have this done."

Try a drill bit that is a little bit tight to the inside diameter of blind roll pin.
Then insert the bit into a cordless drill and drill the roll pin till it just punches through the other end of the roll pin.
Unchuck the drill bit from the cordless drill and take a pair of vise grip type pliers and give the drill bit a good yank like a slide hammer.
Out comes the roll pin.

This is how I removed one from a stock to repin it to a shorter length.

You could always just keep drilling and use an 1/8" bit on the other non-blind side and drift the pin out if the bit doesn't catch when you punch through the end of the roll pin.

Tomorrow I will try to snap some closeup pictures of where it looks pinned . I believe this model has a buffer tube that has no slots to be adjustable , only fixed. I took a quick look the other day , and it looks as though it was pinned with a small Allen screw or something. I will definitely try to get some clear pictures tomorrow. I want to change the stock to a magpul anyways , would thatrequire changing buffer tube?

Was this a MA compliant model? Or did you have it massified? As pupchow said, WW MA models come with a stock that looks like a telescoping stock but does not adjust. It isnt pinned.

ETA: The buffer tube is part of the non adjustable stock. So you will need a new one for your magpul.

Bought in upstate mass new unfired off of private sale efa10. It probably is a MA model. The bottom of the buffer tube doesn't even have slots for it to adjust into. So maybe it isn't adjustable at all, that being said I would still like to change tube and stock . What is the process for that and is it fairly easy?

Yes, very easy. You change it just like you are changing a buffer tube. Youtube is your friend. Just be careful of the rear taketown pin spring coming out when you remove the stock.

Obviously whatever tube I buy will have to be milspec like the stock ?

Don't bother trying to salvage the old stock/buffer.
Purchase the stock you want. If adjustable find the spot you like. Then drill and pin to your likes.

For 50$ you can get the entire kit.

I prefer the A1 stocks myself.

Then you just need a standard extension,spring and tube.

[peanut gallery comment] Wouldn't you be illegal for the 30 minutes it takes to do this job? [/PGC]

Even thinking about it is illegal.

a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of--

(i) a folding or telescoping stock; Don't even think about unpinning a collapsible stock (added 6/13/17).
(ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon ;
(iii) a bayonet mount;
(iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and
(v) a grenade launcher;

OP, can you put up a picture of the underside of the the buffer tube?
Your stock sounds like one I have. The stock mechanism is replaced with a screw, and the buffer tube just has a tapped hole instead of the slot. The buffer tube is half bored out for the buffer/spring and the back half left solid.
You would have to take a saw to the buffer tube and drill and tap a new hole for the new stock position.

....And the founder's met at alehouses about Boston under the cover of night. They spoke of their contempt for the Stamp act, their indignation of the Boston massacre and They even defied the British by temporarily unpinning the buttstocks of their rifles, even under threat of hanging for treason!
