I'd disagree. The vintage, harder to find guns are very difficult to get online. It's typically not the main vendors at the gun who, but a smaller guy that tend to have things that have been around a while. If you know what you're looking for you can find some gems there. Sometimes you can find things on an Auction site, but those come with a ton of fees that can add up and add a huge load on top of the gavel price. Most times it's not worth it, but I have used them in the past as well.
