using the accessory rail on a S&W shield 9mm

Hi guys, I was wondering if its possible to use a laserlyte v3 on a shield 9mm. The shield has a rail but no picatinny/weaver slots. I was thinking to take a hot nail to the underneath to make an indentation for the picatinny pin on the laser sight to go through. Any thoughts?

Sort of a stretch calling that a rail, ya think. Any accessory Ive seen usually clamps to the trigger guard.

Yeah, I own one, still wouldn't call it a rail. Guess you could hot nail it if you want and call it whatever, that makes the world go around. Be interested in your mod though, post some photos when complete.

That's an optical illusion. It tapers down to that bottom section and then continues vertically. the dark line looks like it's an indentation but it isn't.
