I've been using this stuff (and JB Bore Cleaning Compund) in pistol and bolt rifle barrels for years and I think they work great. I have hesitated using it in semi auto rifle barrels just because I am concerned that some of this stuff may clog the gas port in the barrel or otherwise do harm to a gas piston setup as it is at least mildly abrasive. There is nothing in the labeling warning against using it in gas gun barrels, but I'm still concerned.

Please post your experience, opinions using either of these products and whether you feel they are safe for use in Semi Auto rifle barrels. Thanks for your input.

I've used it in AR15s AR10s and M1As and M1s with out any problem but not for everyday cleaning. Maybe a couple of times a season. I wouldn't worry about clogging the gas port.

Depending on what type of rifle, you can always clean the gas system out. Unless you are using it every time or putting gobbs of the stuff down the barrel I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just remember that the priming compound has ground glass as component. JB is no where near as abrasive as that and the gas that is being blasted into the system at 15,000 psi.
