The LGS just got a 4 year old 6" GP100 that looks virtually new. Looks completely original except that it's got nice fiber optic sights and the newer style Hogue grips. He's asking $619, which seems way too high to me. I see these new at Buds for $575, which would put me at $600 after FFL transfer fees. What's the gun worth in excellent used condition with the fiber optic sights? $500-$550? I like the gun, but no way I'm paying new price for a used gun.

That price seems nuts to me. I wouldn't pay that in a million years. Looks like you can get them brand new for <$600. Regardless of how nice the gun is, it's used. I'd probably be in it for about $475 tops with the fiber optic sights.

I would aim for around $450 personally. Four Seasons had them new for $580 a few months back when I was looking and that was with the hogue grip. I have seen three different 4" barrel gp's sell on here in the past 3-4 months for $400 or less. Fiberoptic sights, depending on brand, can be had for as low as $65.

I have had good experience w grabagun. They ship quickly and charge only $6 for shipping fedex 2-day to local FFL. Also no tax.

just a thought but i totally agree w everyone else here....my old man recently bought a 4" GP100 BNIB for somewhere in the ballpark of $500. such a tremendous value when you consider how well built the GP100 is and compare prices to S&W which i believe are inferior built quality.

What do you think about the S&W 586 and 686's is inferior build quality?

6" GP100, I would say between $450 and $525ish price wise (used)

I have a 2013 production 686+ and yes, it is overpriced and has required waaay too much work by S&W to correct it. The stock trigger was also kaka. So yes i actually thing the GP100 is built better. Im not claiming anything categorically better, just my opiniom on them.

i also prefer the ruger locking mechanism directly on the crane. Again its just my opinion. Homestly i prefer every aspect of the GP100 except maybe cylinder capacity is 6 compared to my + model's 7.

Fair enough.

I own(ed) both as well, and the GP100 offered a excellent value and is a fine revolver. My 686 was superior (IMHO) in every way.

Sadly, both are now gone.... I will buy a S&W 929 at some point

Ruger GP100 all day long. Built like a tank, and will out last the S&W many times over.

$500-$560 is what you should pay. I'm hoping to score the 3" stainless model after we get settled into our new home.

$400 at FS 2 1/2 years ago. And down m favorite range gun:) Going as Bonnie and Clyde for Halloween this year, yes I'll be carrying it in a shoulder rig:)

Take blue book gun values for what ever it might be worth.
GP100 357 blued is 550$@100% stainless is 575$@100% they give no added value to the factory rubber grips or interchangeable front sight. Barrel length also did not have any added value per blue book. Personally for me I wouldn't buy a used common handgun if its not at least 25% less of new retail...I'm funny though I don't like used hand guns unless they are a bargain. If I'm with 100$ of new I buy new?
