The coatings definitely make things more difficult to work on, you can't lean on or touch anything, it will be in your hair, everywhere. We do a lot of frame rust repair and it will add a lot of time because it has to get cleaned off prior to any metal work. BUT the oil/wax coatings are the best protection (aside from keeping the vehicle out of the salt/sand) against new england winters especially if the frame already has rust.
