I know absolutly nothing about AR15'S and havn't fired one in 40 years. But I did get in on the lower buy.

I want to get a upper that looks just like the one that I had in Vietnam. Triangular hand guards and bird cage flash hider. Is this possibile??

Can any one point me in the right direction?

You cannot have a flash hider if you are in MA because your lower will be "post ban" [made after 1994]. What I think I will be putting on my M4gery that I am building from "the buy" is a Branson Compensator that looks like an A2 flash hider but isn't.

Thanks, I guess that will have to do. Now all I hve to do is find an upper with triangular hand guards.

Sure just look for an A1 upper without a lug, or grind it off; use the comp that MichaelJ posted; and buy the TRI guards if the upper doesn't already have them.

Fulton Amory has the exact one that I want but it has a 3-Prong M16-type flash suppressor on it. I suppose I could have them take it off.

Is this a good deal. The only thing holding me back is 1x12 twist barrel..

Fulton Armory,
The Legacy Lightweignt FAR-15 Upper is as close to the original M16® as the law allows! The Legacy Service Rifle Upper Receiver Assemblies include:

If that's the look you want, (love the classic lines), the Fulton can make it for you and make it well. Just give them a call and ask for the A1 without the birdcage and the lug needs to be ground off and finished over. They may have an alternative, or you cans end them one...If you like it - get it. I think it will be kinda neat...If I were building one, I'd go for the slabside lower as well, but that's just me. Can't wait to see it...[cheers]
