Well I dug out my old Walther OSP from the gun safe and going to do some bullseye shooting. It is set up for the RWS .22 shorts I used to use. Looks like the only ammo I can get now is CCI. Does anyone know what adjustment I need to do to the gun to use this higher velocity stuff?
I remember it had to be set up differently.

I shoot a GSP, and I'm somewhat familiar with the OSP. I'm not sure what you mean by "higher velocity stuff" - are CCI .22 shorts higher velocity than the RWS flavor? And if they are is there anything involved other than resighting the gun?

I'm thinking that maybe you can't find .22 shorts (pretty much unobtainable lately) and are asking about using .22 LR instead? If so, I don't believe the chamber in an OSP is going to accept the LR cartridges. You can talk to Earl about it and see what he thinks, but I suspect his answer will be the same.

Of course, for the bargain price of only $1195 Earl would be happy to sell you a GSP Expert upper, which would in effect convert your OSP to a GSP, which is set up for .22 LR.

Thanks I just spoke to Earl. Yes the CCI is much higher in Velocity than the RWS. I have a single stage trigger which will get the snot beat out of it over a period of time with the CCI stuff. His suggestion is to install a 2 stage trigger which will take any .22 short ammo. It is also needed should I change out the top to either .22LR or .32. Looks like I'm going to get the Two-Stage trigger and use .22 Short CCI's which are available. (I can buy a lot of .22 short ammo for the price of a .22LR top.)

That's interesting - I wouldn't have guessed that the type of trigger would make any difference, and also wouldn't have guessed that two different brands of .22 short could be so different in velocity.

I'm also surprised that you're able to find .22 shorts so easily and cheaply. There were a couple of guys on my team who were shooting OSPs until last year, but after the ISU changed the rapid fire rules .22 shorts became so difficult for them to find at a reasonable price they eventually switched to .22 LR (one in a GSP, the other in a new SSP). But, if you can get the ammo, then it makes sense to stick with what you've got, and those guys used to love the low recoil of the OSP in the sustained fire stages.

I can get it but I didn't say cheap. LOL But with switching to a new top for $1200.00 I'll stay with shorts for now. Or go back to my .22LR High Standard.

Remington 22 Shorts were available in Walmart today. I noticed because I have a partial box from somewhere. I can't imagine what the RWS 22 short is nor did I understand the OSP, GSP, ISU stuff either [smile]

But 22 was the only thing Walmart had ton of!
