I'm very disappointed that this isn't a thread about the former Soviet republic of Georgia. That would be far more interesting from a private army/merc/contractor standpoint.

Has Atlanta declared Georgia a Soviet republic ? [laugh]

Kidding aside, some of us have fought both irregular and conventional armies. This Country in my opinion is starting to resemble the kind of polarization that will lead us down an ugly abyss of a failed state .

I don't think the media, corporate or political establishment is going to stop, cuz it's good for business . The oppression and provocations aren't going to stop, in fact they will increase. I went through the 60's with eyes wide open. That was kids play. This is the first inning.

Same group. The leader carries two ARs (or AR looking things) for some reason, so he's easy to spot. He must have a long trigger finger to reach both.

Stone Mountain is a massive Confederate war memorial site that's been politically divisive since its creation, attracting Klan rallies and anti-racialist protests. MLK referenced the memorial in a famous speech.

Straight up missed the connection, just focused on the protesters themselves, my bad.

There's pictures of some of them with a G36, a Famas, multiple with no sights on. So unless they are somehow very well financed and connected, they have a lot of airsoft guns

I wonder what the airsoft % is of the marchers.... [laugh]

Some of them definitely have real guns, though. That much I have seen.

One of the articles says how open carry is legal with a Georgia firearms license, my guess would be anyone in the group who didn't have the license was given airsoft to still be able to march in uniform.

This.

A committed guerrilla is going to be a formidable enemy even without 70lbs of useless and expensive crap dangling off his rifle. Because he knows he can't depend on plate carriers, commo gear, helmets, spare mags, and FA kits, nor the logistical chain implied by all that, he knows he has to be a more lethal marksman, a quicker and more silent mover, and a colder killer.

...

Eh, the committed part really only makes a resistance force more dangerous because it means they’ll keep coming even after facing massive casualties. Rarely are guerrillas actually more capable soldiers. They usually die at a much higher rate because they lack the training and gear. There are exceptions of course. The French Resistance was very dangerous and while they took casualties, similarly to some SF-trained groups. Viet Cong, Taliban, and JAM have had horrible casualties inflicted and they haven’t been all that effective on an individual or unit level. But they make up for it with sheer determination and willingness to keep coming even in the face of almost certain death.

All that said, this group may be poorly equipped and out of shape (plenty of normal 2A protestors are likewise), but they’re much more disciplined.

This was what struck me. Our side would never be able to get so many people following one plan. There are a lot of reasons for that (some good, some bad), but the net effect would be a dilution of our message.

My hat's off to these yahoos.

How much of it is media portrayal as well?

Note: I don't have 100% proof its the same group, I just came across the video looking for more info on this.

Reparations for stealing their culture?? What culture??? Putting plates in his ears or lips??? Tell me you don't mean southern cooking. Because if that's so, there's gonna be a "tax" on Chef BoyRDee for anyone who is not at least 8% Italian. LOL

"I'm your worst nightmare. I'm carrying 2 AR like guns so I can be sure I can't shoot either of them. Getchoosomeofdat!"

But that's par for the course.

When we rally, we can't control ourselves. We bring big signs showing Maura as Hitler and then we act all surprised when the cameras focus on that. I don't see any signs at all in that group. There's nothing for the media to focus on except numbers.

If we all showed up and stood silently in identical t-shirts, that's all the cameras would be able to show.

The '60s is ancient history. I'm a transplanted Yankee and I live in a very rural area down here. Way too many people work and interact daily with black folks or served beside them in the military and appreciate that each race has decent, God fearing Americans along with their share of complete dirtbags. I'd venture to say that on any given Sunday afternoon you'll see an even percentage of blacks and whites dressed up in their go-to-church finest and they read the same Word and worship the same God I do.

For every crack fiend gang banger you can offer as an example we can point out their equivalent meth head white trash. Yeah many of them speak in a dialect that's a little different but they think I talk funny too.

I think this is a Mass problem because I've never seen people with Raimondo-as-der-Fuhrer posters at RI rallies in our State House.

The desire people have to protect all of the 2nd place trophies of the confederacy has always been curious to me. I lived in Richmond and most of my friends had a Robert E Lee portrait in their houses someplace. I would just look at the pictures and think, yeah, that guy is a loser.

Not every piece of tac gear comes in black (not racist)...the most important thing seems to be color coordination here.

Personally, I’d like to see more of this from everybody. That looks like a peaceful assembly to me. At least they’re organized enough all show up at the same time and nobody wore a hot pink leotard.

They do need to practice some dispersion though. A couple strategically placed grenades and they’ll be out of commission.
They were stopping cars with white drivers and harassing them. Talking about all the oppression, demanding reparations etc. One of the drivers said "reparations? When were you a slave?"

Good to hear. I'm going from what I hear from friends that live in Dallas (outside Altanta) and Ellijay. They are more then a little nervous that things could go bad between the two groups that would descend on that landmark.

It goes back to Lincoln and restoration and forgiveness in order to become one nation after the civil war.
