well, my beater WASR10 has always had a problem with wanting to let go of magazines that i put into it. i have 2 types of mags: 30 round metal ones and 30 round plastic ones. the plastic mags are difficult to get out, but it can be done with one hand and a lot of pressure on the mag release. the metal ones are a different story. i have to literally put the rifle in between my legs and use both hands to get the mag to drop. ive used other peoples mags, including Billk's and even he had a huge amount of trouble getting one of his steel mags out of the stupid rifle.

so, i know you guys know a lot more about this stuff then i do, and im guessing it would just involve slightly filing some part of the mag catch / release / whatever.

if someone is going to the pumpkin shoot and could fix it or look at it in person on saturday that would be great, other then that ill take some advice. do it myself and break something else while i try to fix it.

It's cause the shape of the mag release is wrong for double stack mags. Had the same problem with my WASR-10. I had a buddy reshape the mag release using a Norinco as a template, and now all is fine. Time to break out the Dremel!

Eric,

My beater is staying home, but if I can find the spare kit I have I will give it to you. This way you can rebuild for the most part all the internals. I believe the kit also has a Tapco 2 also.

You haven't been treating it like the M38, have you?
