Been doing a lot of research and visited a couple of shops to check out and ask some questions about the Glock line of pistols. I have been a 1911 and High Power guy since I got my first LTC at age 21. I'll turn 50 in November and just purchased my first 'plastic' pistol. It's an unfired 2nd generation Glock 23. It came with one pre-ban 13 round magazine, box and original papers. Plan on using for daily carry once it checks out ok - going to try the Federal 180 gr. HST round. Four Seasons has them for $19 a box of 50. Wish me luck.

Wow, something must be in the air. I just bought my first Glock last week...in 9mm no less. I got a G26. A year ago if you told me I'd own either a 9mm or a Glock...I'd have scoffed.

My motivation is that I've never had an autoloader that I liked carrying. I either didn't trust them from a reliability standpoint, or they were too bulky/heavy. 25 oz unloaded is my max for IWB. I've always been (still am) a revolver guy.

After I put my prejudices aside, I decided that the glock had reliability and capacity on its side. Opted against the G27, b/c I'm not convinced there are any advantages for .40 in a pistol so small. This was hard b/c I already load 40. I strongly believe in picking the right caliber for the platform. The whole caliber dogma thing is old and unfounded anyway.

Now I have another caliber to reload. [hmmm] I've put ~ 300 rounds through it. So far I'm impressed, but I need more practice. Its only been a few days, so I can't say I'm a fan yet....but I don't think Glocks suck. That's pure rubbish. The old me was an idiot for thinking so. The reliability is on par with anything I've shot.

I enjoy my G-Lock Gen three Glock 22 sweet piece Law enforcment turn in. Hardly any sign of wear at all three mags, box and night sights two years ago 349.95 at Cabela's. S w e e t !!!!

And oh, buy the way IBTG In Before The G-Lock

Congrats !!!! After buying many, many autos the Glock was my last auto purchase and has been my favorite. G26 & G19... Outstanding reliable, accurate weapons. Love revolvers as well, but the Glocks made me believe in auto reliability.

I always wanted a glock but once I picked one up I didn't like the grip. Haven't looked to see if the strap can be changed. But great pistols from what I hear.

I just got my first Glock after years of walnut and steel revolvers.

I was hesitant to buy a "plastic gun". One of my friends asked me what I knew about Glocks. I told him they were reputed to be dependable and accurate. The more I told my friend about Glocks, the more I thought to myself,.... "Self, why don't you own one of these"?

I love my Glock. Not more than my revolvers, just different. Especially in the home defense role, a G17 with 18 rounds on board makes a heck of a lot more sense than my 6 shot .38 or .357.

I have to admit that I love the feel of the mechanics of the Glock. I love how it cocks so smoothly, almost putting itself into battery on each stroke. I like that. I don't like the trigger so much. The trigger reminds me of when I ws a kid and I would get a "dart gun" with rubber tips that you could lick with your tongue and make them stick to windows and smooth surfaces. The trigger on those dart guns felt the same as the trigger on my Glock. It kinda goes "BROING" when I take a shot, instead of a nice clean "SNAP" from a good old revolver. So far that is my only complaint. The trigger is like using a toy. Overall, I like my Glock.

That must be why I like mine so much! I loved those dart guns...
Congrats on your purchase!

you may want to look into one of the hogue slip on grips for it, i have one on my G23 and love it

Only on the Generation 4s.

On the Gen 1 through 3, some pistol smiths will reshape the grip. Most people want the grip circumference reduced.

I, OTOH, found out that I could only shoot Glocks consistently accurately with the large backstrap of my G17 Gen 4. That setup is the same grip size that comes standard on the G21 and G29.
