Yeah, I like guns with a bit of "character" to them. I think they actually look better than the new unfired shiny models. I'm also not afraid to shoot these guns, that's what they're made for, and that's what mine do. I've got a 1955 Browning Sweet 16 that shows all the marks of 50 years of hunting fields, but internally the parts are immaculate. I love this gun because I understand why they command high prices, yet a little rain or another ding here or there won't make any difference in the value at this point.
I picked up a Springfield Armory Compact Comp a few years ago for $350. It was well used, and has a HUGE idiot scratch - it was going for more, but I bargained down because the gun looks like it's been hit by a truck. It goes bang every time, though - and makes even me look good at the range.
When I started buying guns, I liked used guns because they were a) cheap, and b) the wear that others put on the guns made me not look like a newbie and added an air of credibility to me. Now that I don't care, I like used guns because a) they're still cheap and b) I now know what I'm looking for, and sadly, it most likely ain't made anymore.
Anyone got an ugly beat up Single Action Army that they want to part with?
