Started at FS, the website said they had new and used, but alas, no .22s. Made my way down to GFA. Wow , i was glad i did. The gentlemen there, although didn't have any SR's took the time to show me a nice Sig Mosquito, and a bunch of other cool shit. Not used to being welcomed at a gunshop...but i will def be returning.

Then, I figured , im close to B&K, i've never been in there either. I lucked out finding a meter outside with 14 minutes left...a sign. i parked and made my way down, no SR-22's. :(

But another Sig 22. Long story short, i purchased the Mosquito. Just seems like a more substantial firearm, and i already have a Ruger SR40c. I know there are mixed reviews on the Sig's feeding habits but i can't wait to try it. My daughter is home from college for Easter and she wants to shoot her first gun, so there's that.

if you're still reading, best part now. As Brian is calling in my purchase i remember i had 14 minutes on the meter and those segway maids there are diligent. I motioned towards the collection bowl he has on the counter and somehow he knew my dilemma immediately and motioned me to grab the quarter and run like the wind to thwart the evil segway maid.

All in all a good day. I just hope my Sig will have a good appetite and not [puke]

Congrats on the purchase. I dont mind my Mosquito, I certainly wont say its winning any awards though. Very picky on ammo and if it gets any kind of dirty you are in for an upsetting day shooting it. Keep it clean and put some high quality/high velocity ammo through it and you shouldnt have any problems. I got mine more for my girlfriend but its still a fun firearm to shoot and I seem to get more accurate with it everytime it gets used. Good luck with yours!

The SR22 is as hard to find right now as is 22lr ammo. I called FS the other day to see if website was correct, and it saved me a trip as was not in stock. I have been eying the Mosquito for a while since they are available around several shops, but I want a chance to shoot one 1st. I have put plenty of rounds through the SR22 as a loaner and can vouch that it eats all crap 22lr brands.

I love my SR-22 to death- best $300 I've ever spent- it eats anything I feed through it. I've never shot a Mosquito before, but I wouldn't mind testing one out. I've heard some mixed reviews on the Mosquito, I'm definitely curious what's true and what's bunk.

This. Eats anything. Once in awhile I weak roun fails to chamber a new round but that's with dirty cheap cheap standard velocity.

Big fan of gfa ArmsTec!!!! I bought my first gun (G19) from them and the gent I dealt with went out of his way to make me comfortable. Good luck with the Mosquito! Buddy has one and I love how it feels in the hand, but the mini-mags are the only thing that work reliably for him. I have the SR22 and it loves the trashy cheap bulk stuff and only seems to run better the more I shoot it.

Thanks for the gratz and the tips.

I hope I got a good one. I'll def be polishing that feed ramp.

I also plan to use this to train the other members in the house that want to learn. Son turns 16 Wednesday and I have a Ruger 10-22 wrapped up and ready to give him. [smile] The black synthetic stock with stainless barrel.

Luckily, I've been "collecting" 22LR in all flavors, from CCI to Wildcat.

Polish the feed ramp and you'll shoot cheap bulk packs all day.

Did you work on the feed ramp yourself or use a gunsmith?
Did you polish the barrel?
I've seen a few videos on doing this work, it seems straight forward.
So many people seem pissed that this needs to be done to a new firearm, but it seems like a small price to pay to get an otherwise great pistol to work more reliably.
The selection of .22 semi-autos is pretty small especially when you narrow it down to MA compliant.
The Ruger SR22, Walther P22 and Sig Mosquito are my main contenders. I'm partial to Sigs due to feel in my hand, overall quality and reviews on accuracy.
If a little work to the feed ramp helps with FTF/FTE and allows a wider range of ammo to be used, I think it would be the top of my list.

To polish ramp
A dremel with the cloth buffing wheel, some jewlers polish compound. Remove barrel . A little compound on the wheel. Don't bear down hard. Do a little , wipe off compound. Check it out, repeat as needed till it's smooth and shiny. Make sure to get all compound off before reassembly.

I did some of this polishing to mine b4 ever firing it. Seems pretty smooth.

If polished feeds are good enough for match pistols, they're good enough for me. [cheers]
