I understand AR's and most Semi-Automatic Handguns are flying off the shelves, at inflated prices.

But are DA Handguns, Bolt-Action Rifles, Revolvers, and Shotguns tagging along ?

Should I expect a dramatic increase for them as well ?

I recently purchased a few new rifles from a couple of dealers, all which would fall under the "AWB" nomenclature. I did not pay an inflated price for any of them? The few shops I've visited seemed to have plenty of new handguns in stock, save for the S&W M&P SHIELD (I did find one in .40 though). So in my experience, there is some reduced availability of certain items, but prices are at MSRP or less.

I would think most O/U, Break, and long barrel pump shotguns as well as non tactical Bolt Rifles should stay about the same. "New Handgun" prices wont soar but availability will be the issue.

I was surprised to find that North Shore Firearms was out of Mosin Nagants two days ago - they always have a few of those. They had their normal supply of handguns, though, as far as I could tell - people were buying M&Ps, Sigs, Berettas, etc the entire time I was there. Scary black rifles were cleaned out, but nothing else seemed to have inflated prices from anything I've noticed.

I recently got a Rossi lever action rifle from Buds Gun Shop, and they seem to still be in stock and at the same price.

>>Revolvers are pretty stable.<<

Well, I'm finding certain ones going up in price, in particular, S&Ws and Ruger GPs & Security Six series. Must be the spin-off effect. :-(

Everything was still the same price at my LGS. Ammo, handguns, what was left of the long guns... Ammo is limited to X boxes depending on type, but prices were the same as six months ago.

Manually operated firearms and ammo.

I don't think we'll see a spike in prices at gun stores until the new stuff comes in. What is flying off the shelves is old stock, and the prices will change once the gun stores need to order more stuff at higher prices.

Just saw some Mosins advertised for $200. I know they arent generally found for $99 anymore, but am I wrong in thinking $200 is a bit much?

I would guess that cap & ball black powder will remain about the same. Perhaps handguns will too, though the Model 29 S&W might go up if more Detectives start carrying them [smile]

Seriously, though, I hope things level off and stay reasonable for those of us who are responsible and law-abiding gun handlers/owners. That way we can all benefit!

Leveling off is what Im worried about. Kind of like how $3 + gas is "normal" now. A lot of times after a price shock, prices never really work their way back to the old level.

when oscuma took office in january 20th 2009, average national price for regular gas was $1.83 per gallon

last friday,
National regular gasoline prices
Price Change from last week
Regular gasoline/gallon $3.26 0
Diesel fuel/gallon $3.92 ↓ .02

Those Mosins are apparently already cleaned of cosmo it looks like. That's worth an extra $40 if they did it right, IMO.

ETA: I don't know that they have been cleaned after a second look - not sure what I read the first time that made me think that.

You do realize that DA handguns are semi-automatic... right?

I don't know where all you guys complaining of cosmo in your Mosins got the rifles... but none of my Mosins were caked in cosmo when I bought them, and they all came straight from the distributor.
