What have you seen lately?

My kids love those red(?) turtles.

Learn the difference between the Red Eared Pond Slider and the Painted Turtles. The Pond sliders are sold all over the place as pets and when they get bigger, families release them. The Orientals release turtles for good luck and the majority of those are Red Eared. The dam things are invasive species and will overrun a local pond in short order, driving out the native Painteds.

The sliders are native to down south. I've been told that they do not mate and lay eggs up here, but that's bulls98t. Ive seen Red Eared in my yard laying eggs. Those won't hatch.

My Bull Frog was conspicuously quiet for a few days. I was sad, thinking that the Great Blue Heron that stalks the shore line had taken him. Last evening, I was pleasantly surprised to hear him again in full throat.

One of our local herons took out a chipmunk last week in the neighbor's yard. A freaking chipmunk!

I had a pal that would hunt for spiderwebs. When he found a good size complete web without a spider in it, he would have a black felt stapled to a frame and spray paint the web. He would then carefully scoop it onto the felt. He sold quite a few.

Saw these guys in Salem and called to them. They came running in. They’re awfully big

Found this guy while fishing a new spot. After seeing him, I explored the area a little bit and was able to loop around and catch him a second time. The area looked pretty good, really thick. I walked a ridge and found a single bed worn to dirt with a large buck track. Too bad you can’t hunt this area....
