I couldn't believe how the press (CNN) handled the surpreme court ruling yesterday.

They actually had reporters going to gun shops and monitoring gun sale online to see it there was an increase in business. Do they really think just because of a ruling hours before gave Joe Blow the right to just walk in and buy a handgun without a permit? Like there would be a mad rush at the doors of gun shops trying to buy what ever was left on the shelves?

actually... i got the urge to buy one [smile]

and hopefully will complete the transaction within the next week [wink]

I'm sure many people did, however in my state (CT) that requires a NRA Basic Pistol safety course, 8week criminal backgroud check by the FBI and local police, then a State police issued permit - needless to say takes several months to complete before you can purchase a handgun.

It's what they do. They are liberals. Liberals never have the facts and are afraid of things they don't know about.

Here's an example of arguably the worst (from a rights perspective) media rant against the Heller decision, by a Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post columnist presumably close to the "hood."

The part really worth reading is the long list of comments from readers slamming his claptrap to the wall. Read the comments. You'll feel good about Americans with their self-defense sensibilities intact.

Find it all at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/26/AR2008062601755.html

+1

They would shit a brick if they went to a gunshow in a free state where two private citizens exchange cash for weapon without so much as a by-you-leave to any .gov bureaucrat.

[laugh]

Derek, that's true but it really goes much deeper. Most of the so-called press is in bed with the Libs. Their ranks are populated by folks who are Lefties (older folks) or Newbies that are a product of the brainwashing that our illustrious "Institutes of Higher Learning" are churning out today. For the most part, both the "news" and "education" has been taken over and hijacked by the Lefties. By "education", I am speaking of going down to grade level and earlier. Socialism and hatred of our country is being spoon fed and forced upon our students in the public education system. The kids know no better....they believe what they are being told.

Grin, goes back to Kruschev's shoe banging and statement that, "We will destroy you from within." He was right, it IS happening, and too many folks are blind to it.[sad2]

Its funny how stupid journalists are. I guess thats because they effectively have a college degree in nothing...just writing about what other people know, but they themselves are experts in nothing.

Gun buying only surges when they pass a new gun control law, not the other way around. Idiots...

Grin, it WOULD be funny if that were true. These people may be idiots in our opinion, but they are not stupid. They know exactly what they are doing, and that is advancing an agenda under the guise of "obejective" journalism. Nothing objective about it at all.[frown]

Four Seasons on a Saturday would cause a liberal to have a massive coronary.

I think that is why it's good to have the PD so close - to clean up the mess quickly.

(^_^)

lol...my first time there was a Saturday at 3pm. I was expected it to be empty, opened the door and was like, holy shit. Put in a reserve for when they got new Sig's in.

Picked it up on Thursday, figured it would be empty, opened the door, holy shit again. Place must do some serious business.

What Kruschev actually said was "We will bury you."

That the Soviet Union collapsed first does not mean that we will not rot from within.

Reading the press over the last few days from the Heller decision really opens ones eyes to the ability of some in the press to use the press as an agenda machine rather than a reporting machine. Not to say that everyone should not have a fair shot at preaching from the soap box; but in the least they should call those 'articles' commentary and editorials, not news.

The funniest thing though is reading some of these articles/commentaries/editorials. These people are pissed that the SCOTUS did not interpret the amendment in light of their viewpoint that the Constitution and Bill of Rights were living documents, but rather the court affirmed that the amendment says exactly what it means.

I dont kid myself for a moment to think that they will take this slap in the face idly; the real battle has just begun.

I remember being taught about that quote in school as well. Kruschev spoke it in 1959 at the Kitchen debates. And I remember watching the shoe banging incident on the black & white TV. Here's a link to the first quote and a few other "Communist Classics."
