I'd imagine unmolested complete rifles like the Colt A1, A2, etc still have value from a collector perspective, independent of state.

No - anything 8/1 exempt has that perceived premium.
An unmolested Colt would be collectible anywhere not just in Mass

Preban lower prices have dropped a lot on Gunbroker now that Mass FFLs aren’t buying them.

Unmolested preban Colts are still valuable but the days of stripped preban lowers costing 4 figures are over.

I wonder how many cool preban guns were parted out in the last 30 years

I'm pretty sure Ron Mittly is still somewhat anti-gun, but the environment was vastly different in 2012 than it is today. It would be like judging the OG G-dub (George Washington) based on our 2025 view of race relations. I hear the same chants from anti-Reagan'ites. Again, that was 1981-1989. A very different America. Wondering waht Ronny Raygun would be pro or against in 2025 is like wondering if JFK would still be a democrat if he were alive today. I'd say "what about Ed King?" but he was a Democrat. Imagine a democrat that froze taxes, supported nukulur power, IIRC, was a friend to gun owners, and cut social programs.
