Who wants acorns?

We have a yuuuuuge red oak, probably 4-foot-plus diameter at the base, and it dropped a zillion acorns as usual. Normally the critters get them all, or many/most of them....but this year I scooped up a bunch. I am planting them in pots (never did this prior; figured I'd give it a shot) for transplanting to ground later, so that it (the yuuuuuge oak) can have children. The parent tree is coming down next year due to age, decay, proximity to the house, etc.

Its children will be transplanted throughout the property and not so close to the house.

damn, property behind me has 2 trees and it's like a 5 star michelin restaurant for squirrels. they've mounded a pile on top of a little shed and sit and munch while watching the world go by quite often. a couple have back legs, thighs and asses that are as big as a pork butt.
