Wild game butcher recommendations

If you're into hunting for the long run, learn to do it yourself. Plenty of videos out there. Actually pretty easy and you can get the cuts you want for steaks, roasts, stew, ribs and sausage. Jack.

What Jack said. II bought a book 20 years ago and said to myself, " I can do that". You really cannot screw it up if you debone. Honestly, I think of butchering as part of the hunt. I find it fun and very rewarding.

I just butchered my buddy's deer today. We got some great backstraps, ternderloins, stew meat and I ground up about ten pounds for hamburger. I pressure can the stew meat, which makes it oh so tender.

This is by far my favorite video because he gets some awesome cuts. There is a muscle deep in the hind part of the animal that is literally a tenderloin, if you cut it out like he suggests. Just do it. You will appreciate the experience. Pete

When you field dress the deer, keep the knife away from the bladder. If you have help, pinch off the input and output. If no help, tie with string, cut it loose and pitch it into the woods. Jack.

You can save the urine for a lure. If you freeze it in an old ice cube tray it will keep and be easy to parcel out. Tarsal glands too.

You can’t beat the real thing.

This was my intention too for my first deer season and I don’t want to come home empty handed. If anyone has some leftovers send it my way please.

Reviving an old one here. Need a butcher for upcoming deer season. Eastern mass. Doing it myself is just not in the cards.

Many moons ago it was a simple process. Tag out on deer, get it recorded, then bring to butcher as-is, only needed to be field dressed. Looking for a shop that will do the same.

I vaguely remember we could get sticks and jerky. I’ve found a few websites of New England processors but sticks and jerky don’t seem to be offered. If your shop does this, I’d love to hear it.

Thanks

I know that I am responding to an old post but the thread has been revived so I thought I would add this:

I have a hitch hoist as I can’t lift them into the bed of the truck anymore. I added a small hanger to the top arm to hold the gambrel and an eyebolt to the foot plate so I can attach a snatch block. That way I can use the winch to skin a deer similar to what you see in the Redneck Deer Hitch and Skinner.
