Winchester archives?

Does Winchester have an archive, and an archive service, similar to what Colt offers? I ask because I'm interested in acquiring a Winchester 52 Sporting model, and since they made so few, and there are counterfeits around, I'd like to be able to authenticate potential purchases.

I can't find the answer looking at Winchester's web site.

Thanks,

M

M,

The only information I could find real quick is a link to Midway USA which is a 5 minute video and goes over some of the different changes in this model of rifle. It may help you in some way.

http://www.midwayusa.com/General.mvc/Index/VideoLibrary?&VideoID=1_2k7k4k1o&Category=gun_history&cm_mmc=sm_youtube-_-video_content-_-youtube_video_description-_-1_2k7k4k1o

I also found the information about serial number location from the linked manual. I would like to believe if you can get the serial number the company may be able to tell you if they made it.

“Serial number: The serial number can be found on the right hand side of the receiver. Record the serial number at the front of the book for future reference.”

Thanks James, I appreciate it. I don't think the current incarnation of Winchester has the old records, though.
