Had business at the Massachusetts state court in Worcester. While being relieved of my pepper spray, belt, and swiss army knife, I asked "what about guns"?

They indicated that as long as I had a valid LTC, I could go into a special room, unload, demonstrate that it was empty, and I would be allowed to store it in a locker.

They were not bothered by the question.

The new law prohibits possession on the buildings or grounds of a publicly owned facility used for the administration of government. While there is not universal agreement where the boundary lies (is a public restroom on the town beach used for administration of government?), it is pretty clear with a courthouse.

The only on-property defense is locking the gun in your car. I would not rely on courthouse staff/police to continually grant an unofficial exemption to carry up to the security checkpoint, even with an LTC.

Even something as innocuous as my library can be an issue now as my state rep uses the conference rooms for meetings regularly. Massachusetts sucks as does this law.

I read somewhere else that the town of Hubbardston voted to allow conceal carry in their municipal buildings.

Do you have a cite?

Well, the outcome would be the same. I'll use @Zappa 's signature to help describe what I mean, ""Politicians Are Like Diapers, They Should Be Changed Often, And For The Same Reason"

Eons ago, I had court in FawlRivvah. The defense (is it defense in a civil trial. Plaintiff and. . . . defense??) lackey had his J frame. My neighbors (we were the plaintiffs) took a nutty. But the security guy just took it and unloaded it and put it in a box under the desk or something. This was. . . . 20-25 years ago when the court was on N Main.

The security guys werent' too concerned.
