XD's Different for High Cap Mags??

I was at Gander Mountain yesterday, and it seems they only sell guns with high cap mags here(WI). I told him where I was moving(MA) to and asked him if I could get 10 round mags in place of the high caps. He told me that the actual gun is different--the handle is thinner for the 10 rounders...

Could this be true?

Sounds like BS, but maybe I'll ask on the XD forum...

I have 2 XD's -- A compact and a fullsize. If you get the compact version, they actually come with a high cap with grip extention -- essentially making it a full size, and a 10 round mag that fits flush with the grip for concealed carry purposes. If you get the full size XD, they do in fact make 10 round mags for it. Midwayusa.com has them.
